Episode 8 is finally out and it is time to put this bad boy to rest!....assuming I can get it working, which is never a safe assumption, I've learned. While I wait on things, a few thoughts.

I'm loving all the different interactions at the party. Somehow kinda reminds me of Homestuck now that all the humans and trolls are kinda sorta maybe gonna actually meet up. Also interesting to note that Rudolf's here even though he just died. That's odd.

As much as I am enjoying the setup of some sort of conflict beyond "oh man is Ange gonna lrn2key," I was really hoping that Battler would finally get a chance to be Awesome Territory Lord Guy just once, and yet here we are again with him losing control. At least we got the fun Beato I guess. It also seems to be getting less likely that he's reclaiming the main character spot, which I am pretty bummed about even if Ange is a lot less annoying this ep. She's not really a Mary Sue, but I react to her like she is.
I do not understand why we need one more fight, but I AM pretty excited about it. I'm also really enjoying face/tweener Lambda.....that said, I really don't feel like changing my opinion of Bern again, so I am gonna be annoyed if she winds up becoming sympathetic like they're already starting to tease. Let SOMEBODY be an actual bad guy in this story about evil witches and serial murder dammit.

Well that was indeed a simplified and streamlined game. Theories that immediately come to mind: -Nobody's ruled out suicides yet. -Teeeechnically we haven't ruled out somebody sneaking out of the room WHILE everybody was investigating the first twilight but that's probably silly -First Twilight could be a kid/victim pair...I think the first two didn't have a second confirmation, but the rest did. -Servants could all be in it together.
ONLY the culprit can lie? Interesting.
I can't tell if multiple culprits is supposed to be possible with these rules or not. Suicide and accomplices gets shot down pretty quickly....although I don't see why the culprit couldn't manipulate people perhaps....

Alright, let's see here. My first instinct is to press the First Twilight. Lots of corpses and keys and such floating around, and not a whole ton of death confirmation relative to the rest of them. Gohda initially looks bad, as he gets two statements about how everything was all locked up, and if he's lying, that makes the First Twilight super easy for him or anybody else to pull off. However, his death is confirmed by both Nanjo and Jessica, and that seems to rule him out. Culprits can't die.
Shannon and Kanon is the other obvious point to press, but Shannon is confirmed by Nanjo AND George, and Kanon appears to be confirmed in red. I wish the wording was a bit more clear ("treated as dead") so I could entirely rule out that he's alive, but I am willing to concede for now that that's probably what they're going for.
Heck, let's go about this from a different way. George says Maria can't kill anyone. That means Maria is town (yes, I am in mafia mode now) unless they're a scumteam. That seems...odd, so we'll roll with that for now. That means Maria's statements are true, and that means at the very least we can trust Maria's confirmation that Rosa is dead, assuming Shannon isn't lying about the kids confirming the parents. We also know the mansion is indeed a closed circle, and that all the victims of the first twilight died instantly. ....She doesn't specify, though, that the six people listed are indeed the six victims, so I am not sure I can take that as proof of their deaths.
The cousins cross-confirm pretty dang well for the Eighth Twilight, so I feel pretty safe in assuming one culprit is not a kid. That's not very helpful, I know. ....Who's even left at that point? If there aren't any shenanigans (there are totally shenanigans imo) the survivors are....Kinzo if he's alive, George, Battler, Maria, and that's it. Kinzo is not showing up at all, so unless he shows up on the culprit select screen, I'm ruling him out, which means one of the victims ain't really dead. Let's check who has the least confirmation on death.
First Twilight: Shannon says the kids checked the parents. Kanon says he and Nanjo checked Genji. Maria says all died instantly. Also worth noting that there were definitely six deaths via the culprit, although nothing's said about timing. Second Twilight: Battler says Nanjo checked them. Nanjo corroborates. Fourth: George and Nanjo confirm Shannon's death, although George says he "acknowledged she was dead" rather than specifically checking the corpse. Worth noting that Kumasawa saying they found the corpse is NOT in purple, but is listed. Kanon is red truth'd but I am not sure I trust the wording. Fifth/Sixth: Nanjo and Jessica both confirm. Seventh: Jessica and George confirm, although the duality of "couldn't be killed inside the guesthouse" and "didn't leave the guesthouse" is a headscratcher. Eighth: George and Maria confirm.
I think if we are being ballsy with assuming things (ie, that it's not Battler/Nanjo or George/Maria or Jessica/George), we can use this to confirm the deaths and innocence of Jessica, Krauss, Natsuhi, and Nanjo. It's also looking very much like there's a fake death early on in the game and I still want to look at Shkanon for that. Unfortunately this is all the time I really have right now, so it will have to continue percolating.
I really wanna just take my best guess and/or use the hint so I can move on, but I figure, I only get one shot at actually working on this, so I gotta make full use of my Ep8 virginity while I still have it, y'know? So while I really just want to devour the rest of this episode in one sitting, I'm gonna keep thinking about this until I come up with an answer.

The hints are pretty unhelpful (I looked through them all after I solved it). You've probably deduced enough in that one post where the first 5 hints wouldn't tell you anything you hadn't thought of.
Though eventually the hints give you the answer -- there's a ridiculous number of hints.

Well you get as many tries as you want at entering the answer, just whenever you do so and get it wrong it auto-plays the next hint you haven't done.
I'd recommend just saving there, trying to work it out yourself, and then if you get it right just reload and read the hints then put the answer in again.
Alright, so I am starting from (partially assumed) confirmation of Maria, Jessica, Krauss, Natsuhi, and Nanjo. That means that Gohda and Kumasawa are confirmed as well, since Jessica and Nanjo both cleared them.
Who has a useful hint? Right now, Maria tells me nothing. Jessica confirms that Battler and George are not the culprits of 5/6/7, but not for the whole game. Krauss confirms that nobody was hiding at the time of the first twilight discovery, which is good enough for me. Natsuhi confirms the destruction of Genji's key. Nanjo confirms Shannon, which gives me pause. Gohda just gives me some closed room stuff and Shannon's key. And Kumasawa...kinda sorta confirms the entire first twilight.
Possible culprits at this point, if my assumptions are safe (which they aren't but I'm followin' em), would be...Kinzo, Eva, Hideyoshi, George (scumteam only), Rudolf, Kyrie, Battler (team only), Genji, Rosa, Kanon. Kinzo is unlikely to be alive to select, the first twilight may or may not be ruled out depending on semantics, and same with Kanon. Groovy. Gut currently says George/Kanon which is kinda silly but whatever.
Shannon being town means that the kids did indeed confirm the deaths, which means Rosa's clean and that's it, because I assume Battler or George could lie about a death if they're culprits.
George being a culprit could loosen up some closed rooms, particularly 1, 5/6, and 7. Kanon makes 1 easy, and really, if I'm accepting him as a possible culprit despite the red, he doesn't need much help at all to solo everything....just somebody to take care of second twilight, which shouldn't be that hard with his key. The alibi makes that awkward, but hell, maybe nobody saw him unlock the thing.
Screw it.
I want to finish this game.

Hint! (Which I think is actually the third hint the game gives.) The narrative doesn't lie. Use it to confirm deaths. Use those confirmed deaths to confirm more deaths.
I had a similar approach to yours and wound up with all of these cascading culprit scenarios, but then I finally decided to go back and the reread the damn thing and that helps narrow it down a lot.
Hint 1: Look for something that might be true. I tried that at the beginning of my approach :\
Guess: Shannon/Battler. OTP kinda sorta or something.
Hint 2: Look for people who might not be dead. Why is Beato suddenly so dumb
Guess: Kanon/Shannon. They're probably the culprit of the whole thing anyway.

One of the parents locked themselves in Natsuhi's room with the corpses and stayed there when everyone left. The other parent and Battler committed the remaining murders.

I also liked how "Two adults, one kid" is basically just a recap. I was half-expecting a fourth wall break and/or "IT IS BATTLER AND HIS PARENTS YOU STUPID PLAYER" thing for that hint but no, there's even more after.

The meeting really is a few decades past 1998. I think that people on OT pegged Ange in her late 40s or early 50s.
