MASSIVE SPOILERS, SERIOUSLY. IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED PAST SEASON THREE YET, DON'T READ
I'm on season 4. This show is f***ing brilliant. I just saw the two parter about the Sontarans. Badass race, btw. I'll have to go through and rank my favorite Doctor Who alien races once I'm done, which will probably be accomplished sooner than later. Season 3 was honestly one of my favorite seasons of any TV show ever. Absolutely brilliant, almost all the episodes. What the British lack in special effects they certainly make up for in writing.
Anyway, I love the little Rose hints being dropped so far. That was almost CREEPY with her face being on the screen when Donna was trapped in the TARDIS on the Sontaran's ship.
Also, the Doctor saying "Are you my mummy" when he put on the gas mask? Brilliant. (Or should I say fantastic).
And Jack Harkness being the Face of Bo? Absolutely amazing twist. They fire all their guns on this show. I am so looking forward to the rest! *puts on another episode* This one's about... The Doctor's Daughter. Looks like a good'un!

That was a great episode. The Doctor is quickly becoming one of my favorite fictional characters ever. He's just so... so badass, and he just keeps on going. All he does is lose people, and it doesn't destroy him like it would any of us. He's so damn awesome.

I'm not sure about that. I think at this point he's just... resigned to losing people after what happened in the Time War (which he spent series 1 and 2 being pretty affected by!)
I'm glad you're enjoying 4, though- it's one the weaker series, I think, so it's all uphill (well, mostly) from here.

"Biting is excellent- it's like kissing only there's a winner."
I don't know if he's so much resigned to it. He very clearly doesn't want to lose any more people... like his reaction to Jenny getting shot was so... sad. But yeah I guess he did sort of "accept" it.
Her coming back was so awesome though. I'm looking forward to seeing her again.
One thing I hope we don't see for a while is the Daleks. They really overplayed them I think. Like, twice in Season 1, Season 2's final boss, and then early on in Season 3 again? I liked the Manhattan storyline (and Tellulah was an awesome character, hahah) but it's like "okay give them a break now."
They'll probably be back by the end of this season and I'm just like "ugh."

Can't we come up with something else to be the final boss? I like the Daleks and the whole war with the Time Lords is great lore, I'd love to hear more about it.
But COME ON.

Didn't want to see this when you didn't know, but I believe a condition of them being able to use the Daleks at all was that they had to feature in some capacity at least once per season. Apparently the Dalek rights-owner didn't realise how sick that would make everyone feel of them.

I enjoy the Daleks enough to let them have a one a season shot, but yeah them always being the "final boss" is kind of predictable after it happens enough. But hey, better than Cybermen.
And I see after the final credits roll "RETURN OF THE CYBERMEN" lol
Exterminate >>>> Delete.
But hey, that was amazing. Great season finale, and I loved all the wonkyness. I felt so bad for Donna and obviously... even worse for the Doctor. In the end he loses everyone. Again. I don't care how tough you are, you don't get used to that.
I really wish he could've gotten that blonde waitress girl from the Titanic to help him out. She was pretty cool.

Yeah the end of season 4 is pretty much the saddest thing ever. Rose gets to go live with Human Doctor, but it's still probably not the same, Donna has to spend her whole life trying to remember something that she can't and The Doctor starts all over again with nobody. Just so you know, if you're watching via Netflix, the viewing is a bit wonky from there. Upcoming watch in this order...
The Next Doctor (part of Season 4 on Netflix) Planet of the Dead (Not on Netflix instant for some reason, IIRC, it's on Amazon Prime Instant if you have that. Skippable and not that good, but if you have to watch everything, go for it) Waters of Mars (It's own separate entry on Netflix) The End of Time (Again, it's own entry on Netflix)
After those you can resume the standard viewing, I really don't get why they separated it all like that.
From: ExThaNemesis | #103 What are the specials? I'm not watching anything that isn't the main line story!
Basically, due to David Tennant doing a stage run of Hamlet at the normal filming time (along with the entire production team changing) instead of a 2009 season they did 5 special episodes to make up for it. It continues the storyline, and none of them are skippable. Luckily, they're all quite good!

Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig
You literally cannot skip the specials, go back and watch them. They are actually an entire season, but David Tennant couldn't do a whole season for a variety of problems (Hamlet as mentioned, his body was having trouble keeping up with a lot of the action they have him do, etc).
So instead of a usual 13 episode season they did a series of 5 specials. You have to watch them.
