It's crazy that people are so terrified of a character with 2 moves. Perhaps I've only midded against bad ones, and since I've never left 1350-1400 elo, this is probably the case.

But he's just really not that hard to mid against. Is it because I run Cassie and pressing Q doesn't take skill or is she just a good counter?

Also, starting off with 500+ gold on a support is the best thing ever. I've been starting with Boots on champs like Ali/Taric/Leona so that I can dominate the lane early on and its works well. Dodging Leona when she has boots and you don't is almost impossible.

Soraka is my support of choice now, mostly because she can make any idiot a danger.

Black Turtle still didn't MAJORA'S MASK

For Mana Ryze, is it best to finish items or focus on getting as much mana as possible early on?

My typical item buy order has been:
Mana Sapphire + 2 HP pots > Tear of Goddess > Boots 1 > Glacial Shroud > Sorc Boots > Catalyst of the Protector

After that, I finish my Frozen Heart and Banshee Veil, but I am wondering if I should be item prioritizing differently. I like the better survival I get from the FH and BV, but my damage stagnates while I finish those items up.

Ryze is a hyper carry and the only mage to qualify I think.

Yeah the cool thing about Ryze is once you get your tear (you know, three minutes in) you're free to kind of make whatever you want (assuming it gives you mana of course).

Just build depending on what you think you need, get that tear pumping, and win.

I've been having a hard time with Ryze until I realized that after I get my tear, I'm usually the lowest level champ out of the 10 in the game, and the last to hit 18 if everyone hits 18. I get kills, but my farm could be better I suppose (which mostly has to do with my last hitting sucking balls).

Malphite is probably the easiest tank to play too. I suck at tanking, and had almost no trouble with him.

He's good at taking damage, but it's difficult to make the other team target you. His output isn't really high enough after his ult to make the other team think "oh here's a guy we should attack".

Malphite HAS to build Tanky DPS. It's the only way.

Frozen Mallet>Atmas and just stick to the enemy carry like your life depended on it.

Without some sort of Damage Setup, Malphite ults and then sits there as people ignore him.

Kassadin is annoying as s***.

He pretty much takes a dump on every mid in the game and you can never gank him because he has a built in flash.

The patched jungle is very nice. I may prefer it to the original one.

Does anyone else want them to stop releasing champions for a while after Ahri? I'd rather they focus on balance and fixing other stuff. Your skin's face not showing up on the in-battle portrait is just terrible.

That's why they invented tanky deeps

every two weeks, they release the same champion.

a tanky deeps with a gap closer, an ability that modifies auto attacks, an ability that does bonus damage, some form of cc, a passive that does something with auto attacks, and an ultimate the does bonus damage.

they can release them generally without the need to make any balance changes, every two weeks, and get their every two week champions money. It doesn't pollute the game with champions that they can't balance, because they're all the same. And it lets them work longer on real champions, like Ahri. This is how LoL is sustainable.

Just got Alistar for free for subbing on YouTube. He seems to fit my support fix that I like to play in Sona and Soraka. Any tips with this guy from you guys? Played one game of Co-op v. AI and just focused on learning his abilities. Didn't do half bad, not many kills, but tons of assists.

Played 5 alienware games in week 1, which we will probably not do any other week, but I think it benefits us to do it now while there isn't much disparity in points between a bad team and a good team.

We all have a pretty busy week next week so we're only going to play the 1 automatic match.

But then week after next we'll try and get a bunch more in if the match ups seem favorable.

And then we're going to stop matches altogether for 2 weeks when red goes out of town.

But all in all we have a game plan and we're very confident that we'll make top 32 at the very least to qualify for the tourney.

Addendum: Practice comboing his W+Q in practical situations.

That combo is used to stop runners and initiate team fights, not to sit in the brush and show off like every Alistar seems to do nowadays.

With Alistar you have to do 3 things

1.Perfect the Q+W combo. This is a must. Practice over and over. This combo is the killer of all lanes and carrys. Remember that Alistar dominates lanes with sustain and a ridiculous CC combo.

2.You. Are.The.Ultimate. Peel. You are the opposite of what Leona is. She initiates on enemy carrys and just keeps them in place. Your job is to keep enemies off your carry. Does an enemy have a great AOE? Knock them back. Does the enemy have an Assassin/Anti-Carry with a dash? Pop them up. Keeping your carry alive is what makes Alistar so godly.

3.Know how much damage you can take with your ultimate. Know that while that timer is up, you are as close to invincible as LoL gets(outside of Kayle's Ult and Zhonya's). If the best method for winning is you baiting enemy ultimates and then trying to escape with a little life then do so.


Outside of that just make sure you ward and buy oracles after your philo stone. With the new masteries you can start with 515 gold and get 4 wards, spirit charm, and a potion. Or Boots, Ward, and 2 potions. Both starts work for Ali.

Oh yeah, and that's another thing.

One newbie mistake Alistars, myself included, tend to make in the heat of the moment is that they save their ultimate until they've got 1/4 life left and then pop it to ensure they live. That's stupid.

Use it the INSTANT the enemy starts focusing you and start smashing faces.

I'm almost level 19, sitting on 4600 IP at the moment. Another level, and I need to buy Runes.

I should probably start focusing on which champs I like and that can share Rune pages, and which Runes I can afford to buy.

1. Since you don't have a reliable heal other than, you know, summoner heal, advise your lanemate to start with boots and potions. They likely will not listen to a scrub like you, but it's worth a shot.

2. Don't fire off your Q at point blank. Hide it in brush or aim it from the edge of the screen. Also, when you're being chased, it's worth casting the tornado in your direction to ensure they can never catch you. Ever.

3. Use Janna's ultimate when a team fight is going poorly or you just want to displace your enemy. It's very easy to ult at the wrong time and save an otherwise dead enemy.

Play windowed mode. Half the screen dedicated to LoL so you can shield your carry while afking at tower,the other half to minesweeper or something,.

THat 9% health regen mastery in utility tree is AMAZING on supports.

Philo Stone combined with that and Health Regen mastery makes supports like Ali/Leona/Taric legit unkillable in lane.

Man. Just had a painful match where, despite my team not knowing what they were doing and dying several times before I hit Level 4, I managed to Nocturne-gank the way to an early 18-9 lead. I had double the number of assists than kills, so they were getting nice and fed. Solo'd dragon a few times. Warded. The works.

And then the team fighting phase started and they just got their asses handed to them in every fight. They just had no idea how to coordinate the team, or stick together, or focus a single target.
