Crono doesn't have a good rivalry with anyone. It isn't that Crono has falled quite *that* far, but rather that nobody really thought nominating Crono was that important in this contest. Frog/Magus > Crono/anything.

Hmm, I know I mostly just gonna vote for my favorite character in each matchup. The second character will just be like a tiebreaker. I guess that's out of the ordinary, then?

It's the same reason the Chrono series was snubbed completely from the series contest. People don't think highly of him in the context of this contest's gimmick.

1) Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, two barely related games do not make a series. Did I miss a third game? I'm not up to date on my RPGs anymore.
2) Even with Lavos, I find it stunning Crono is behind Pacman and a ghost.

Well Crono certainly doesn't pull down the nominations like he used to (check how he's fallen off since 2005)

But the bigger problem is that Frog/Magus is the only rivalry that springs to mind when you think of Chrono Trigger. Still doesn't mean he should have been stuck with an unwinnable R1 match, though!

Actually a lot of it has to do with (as I think someone said) Crono not really having a rival.

I mean I certainly wasn't nominating Crono/Lavos, and I'm sure even a good chunk of the people who nominated him paired him up with, like, Magus or some other villain with a personality.

Err on the noble 9. They will always be referred to as the Noble 9. It doesn't change just because one of them lost, their win record is just imperfect now.

Also, Crono/Lavos is not even a rivalry. Feel lucky he has a terrible seed and a loss in round 1, because he'd be an annoying wildcard.
