This is all stuff I saw within 30 seconds. I'm trying really hard to not have the whole "I don't have facebook so I'm better than you" mindset but when I see this vapid nonsense in THIRTY SECONDS of having the facebook window open it's so challenging.
I just see it as a waste of time, and I mean far be it for me to criticize what others do with their time but you see that crap so much that it just makes me scratch my head. What are people doing? There really are better things to do than... well, that.
Just unfriend some b****es, or at least hide them from your feed. I have only 100 friends, a large amount of whom don't appear on my feed, and all I have to deal with is a ton of hipster s***.
I mostly use it for event planning. My friends can't keep a date for crap, so having facebook remind them every day for a week helps. I really don't care if some chick I haven't talked to since third grade had a bad day at work or if that guy who was in my intro to Chem class got engaged.

This. When I log onto Facebook, I check if I've been messaged or invited to any events (because most of my friends use Facebook to handle events, and it is pretty handy for that purpose), and I check if a specific band I like has posted any amusing stories or news, and then I close the page because a good 95% of status updates can go **** themselves

well I wanted to complain about people wasting time, and while this may also be a waste of time, I do this with much less frequency than the people on facebook.

I have a couple "friends" on facebook that I only keep as friends BECAUSE half their posts are lamebook worthy. It's a source of entertainment for me.
But on topic, Extha seems to be complaining about a "waste of time" a lot for a guy who posts on an internet message board devoted to video game character popularity contests. Just sayin.
I added a co-worker about a year ago just to be nice. All of facebook post amount to her gushing about her boyfriend and how he's perfect and the greatest guy she's ever met. No one can compare to how amazing he is and how much he has affected her life.
The problem is that she's with a new guy every couple of weeks. Somehow she manages to completely fall in and out of love in minutes.
Oh and when she doesn't comment on her flavor of the week boyfriend, she comments on her best friend. Who happens to be different every single time she posts.

Also Icon is ****ing right. If your Facebook feed sucks it's because of the people you have on it. Facebook doesn't write the posts, the people you have on your feed do. Hang out with less sucky people and your problems will be solved.

To be fair though, there are tons of people that you think are well adjusted, so you add them to keep in contact, but it turns out that they suck at Facebook.
you guys don't have to apologize to me for using facebook, it's okay really i'm not judging you guys. it's everyone else. and again icon, it wasn't my facebook, so these weren't my friends. and i'm not complaining specifically about it going on with my friends anyway, i'm complaining that it goes on at all. that will be happening whether i've added them or not.
