- No fatties. Sorry Aretha. - Choose a song, provide a link (no direct downloads, please), and do both of these in a timely manner. - You have to rate, rank, and comment on every song chosen by another member. It doesn't matter how eloquent your reviews are, we won't judge. Just get 'em in! It's a nice exercise. - Have your reviews in by the end of our week. Refusal to do so will result in suspensions and expulsions. - Have fun! This is just a silly thing we do for a few months, no need to take offense, or insult anybody for any reason. Except Carl. Have at him.
~Tha Crew~ Carl KCF Cokes Whakko Bartz Not Dave JC Vince Walrus WingedInsignia
Those of you in bold need to get last week done by the end of Tuesday.
Possibly my favorite song from one of my favorite artists.
Sorry that the background picture is stupid as ****. The only other one that had as good of quality had a banned word (what are the odds?) in the link so I was unable to post that one

"Anybody interested in grabbing a couple of burgers and hittin' the cemetery?" -Royal "Oh sure, walk to the sun"- Guybrush
Rank. User: Artist - Track (Average Ranking) High/Low
1. Vince: Portishead - Sour Times (2.56) 1/7 2. Not Dave: Admiral Fallow - Squealing Pigs (2.89) 1/7 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Bartz: Zero 7 - Futures (4.11) 1/8 4. Walrus: M83 - Steve McQueen (4.56) 1/8 5. Cokes: Caravan Palace - Ended with the Night (4.67) 1/8 6. KCF: Ludovico Einaudi - Divenire (4.78) 1/8 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. Whakko: Nicola Roberts - Beat of my Drum (Instrumental) (5.78) 3/8 8. JC: Rockwell Knuckles - Play Catch (6.11) 2/9 9. WingedInsignia: Murcof - Recuerdos (6.78) 2/9 10. Carl: Innerpartysystem - Don't Stop (7.78) 3/9
Not Dave's streak at the top of the rankings is broken thanks to Vince and his beloved(yet controversial) recommendation, which garnered 4/9 first place votes(Not Dave got 2, and those in the second tier each got 1). Carl once again hoards last place votes like none other, with 6/9 last place votes to his name last week.
Another interesting fact: everyone's average ranking was an endlessly repeating number. Let's get one more person in here so each song will get an even 10 rankings each.

My Japanese alter-ego. Hey all this is Bartz btw.

Dilated Chemist expressed interest in joining and it would be nice to have an eleventh, but I haven't seen him since. I'd say if he posts a rec before the first person ranks he's in.

My Japanese alter-ego. Hey all this is Bartz btw.
I didn't think this was still going, sorry for my lack of participation. I've been away from board 8 for a while, probably best that I stay out of this now (there's no way I'll catch up...)
1. Wintersleep - Weighty Ghost Incredible! Now that's an excellent chorus
2. Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra) Such a slow and unremarkable first minute and a half, but man was the wait worth it
3. Adebisi Shank - Genki Shank There's something about this song that makes this mysteriously alluring
4. The National - Exile Vilify A much better song from them than what I have previously heard
5. Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - Black (ft. Norah Jones) Danger Mouse being involved with a song almost guarantees that a song will be great
6. Inna Modja - French Cancan (Monsieur Sainte Nitouche) The chorus could have been a lot better but she has a beautiful voice
7. Tom Waits - Step Right Up I am pretty sure that Icon put up a Tom Waits' song during last "season" and I think this is completely different from what that one was like
8. RJD2 - Ghostwriter Good, and that's all I can say
9. Lights ft. Holy F*** - Everybody Breaks a Glass I believe that this Carl's best song but I wasn't fond of the singer's voice during verses where she was forceful, for lack of a better term
Wow, I still have Carl last. After hearing his song, I was sure that probably wouldn't be the case but this was a fantastic week. Good job everyone, including you too Carl!

There aren't even that many songs to rank anymore!
Bartz: Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - Black (ft. Norah Jones) - Whoa, this is really good. Didn't think Norah Jones had this kind of music in her. Vince: Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra) - This sure took its time, but that last minute gave me the chills. Not Dave: Wintersleep - Weighty Ghost - A bit repetitive, but I love the production. Very Wall of Sound. JC: The National - Exile Vilify - Eww, The Nationa- oh wait, this doesn't suck. Love the piano. Carl: Lights ft. Holy F*** - Everybody Breaks a Glass - I really like LIGHTS, but this song is so terribly produced. Which is a shame, because the chorus is gorgeous. Walrus: RJD2 - Ghostwriter - This sounds good, but makes me feel... nothing. KCF: Cake - Meanwhile, Rick James - So they're the guys who did that I Will Survive-cover, right? This is okay, but quite vanilla. Cokes: Tom Waits - Step Right Up - I've never been able to get into Tom Waits, and this doesn't do much to change that. WingedInsignia: Adebisi Shank - Genki Shank - Not liking this. At all.
