XIII_rocks posted... It is a testament to Charizard's popularity and overall excellence that it made it that far despite the haters, then. Same here - In this contest Charizard made the final and lost to Ninetales (another furry choice, as I recall. Could be wrong though) by one vote, while Vaporeon didn't even make the final.
Furries love Charizard but I'm pretty sure they love the Eeveelutions more. Really, they love anything dog/fox/wolf related. At least the majority does.
And finally, in RPGLord's top 100 contest which didn't support anti-voting of any kind, who finished first by a veritable landslide? Charizard of course.
You just proved my point. In a voting format that didn't support anti-voting, Charizard won fair and square.
That's great for you, but I also just proved my own point: that, if not for the antivoters like yours truly ;D, Charizard would win everything. So obviously, it is quite overrated.
I think my issue here is not so much the comparable popularity of Vaporeon and Charizard but more that it's you of all people who makes a post like that, a post so blatantly hypocritical. When you spend two contests doing everything in your power short of cheating to get Charizard eliminated, then whine about Vaporeon (who was basically the Charizard of water-types in this thing) not winning, it isn't going to fly with me.
Still don't see what's so hpocritical about wanting a popular pokémon to win when it hasn't done so before in my experience. Empoleon won twice. Lapras and Vaporeon both got shafted. ZOMGs I are such a hippocrate. Also at least I stopped short of cheating *cough*likerallyingB8c*cough*
In fact I will now call Vaporeon's elimination glorious payback. I like you usually but I'm calling you on this because you are being a massive hypocrite.
Whatever man.

It wouldn't win everything, which is a shame because it should, but it would win most things, which is great.
And without the antivoters, Vaporeon would have won here.
The difference, really, is that Charizard is strong enough to go far and to sometimes win even with the haters. Vaporeon can't touch it in that regard. However, the Eeveelutions as a unit have a decent amount of popularity on this board and, as a result, they are shunned by some.
In fact I seem to remember people being worried in Chich's contest about an every-eeveelution top 10 or 15 at one point, which is probably why it was so rallied against - to stop something so boring happening. Do you see the similarity of our positions now?
You don't want Charizard to win, fine, whatever, it's lame but I can live with it.
But have the metaphorical balls to take it when your popular-and-favourite-to-win contestant gets kicked out of contention by antivoters.

I never rallied b8c and if I had done I would have been banned. It's that simple. If I want to rally I IM people privately, which I never did with that contest.
Anyway, it is hypocritical because you were unhappy about the Charizard of this contest, the most popular entrant that had (to my recollection) been saved easily each time, not winning. When Vaporeon's elimination was the result of people railing against it - just like you yourself did in the past.
Some_Character posted... Actually Empoleon seems to have been the Charizard of this contest.
Nono, because you see Empoleon isn't a grossly overrated Eeveelution that's expected to win everything even though it rarely wins anything, and even though Empoleon has already won it can't possibly be 'The Zard'...

From: SuorGenoveffa | #261 No, because Empoleon did actually win.
Everytime there's a contest, people are all "OMG Charizard is going to win I'm so maad buuu" and then it doesn't get quite there.
And people do the same with the eevees.
Fortunately, eeveelutions have a) a voter base that just isn't as strong as Charizard's and b) the fanbase is split. Which stops them from winning.
Charizard has a voter base so strong it can go far even in a format that helps antivotes, but that catches up with it eventually. Basically the Eevees are a similar but lesser version of Charizard - and since this water contest lacked a favourite like Charizard, the eeveelution, in this case Vaporeon becomes pretty much the Charizard of the contest. It just lacks the base level of support.
There's no way Virizion will beat Bulbasaur and... uh... Holy hell I can't even think of any more extremely popular Grass type pokémon! This might be boring.
Anyway didn't Lugia finish 3rd or 4th in the Psychic contest? And Mew came in 2nd, so...

From: barreldragon88 | #278 20three posted... why can't people close the voting topics when they're done and just create another discussion topic...really f***ing annoying...
Because that would be spamming the board? I don't know how many people would actually be interested in a discussion topic for the upcoming contest.
And I have no idea why those two previous messages were deleted...
It'd be spamming a board creating a topic "save my water pokemon results topic"?...get real...and me and other guy probably voted only to find the contest to be over...duh
Tsunami already voted so I'm not sure why he voted again. I guess you wouldn't know the contest is over if you didn't read the last few pages of the topic.
