Especially since this was the first "real" date. I mean, I guess its good to get that stuff out of the way, but that is practically all she talked about.

That said, I felt bad because I only have one ex, and then a **** buddy. Wasn't sure if I should have brought them up, so I didn't. I just kind of nodded.

Right after I got out of college I went on a date that a mutual friend set us up on. The whole time during dinner she just kept talking about her one stupid ex, and then while we were walking around downtown (as she still continues to talk about him) she gets a phone call, looks down at it and is like "omg it's him! brb!" She walks around the corner, and then I walk down the street and leave.

Then I made my friend give me back the money I spent for dinner.

good s*** charlie. Glad you just up and left, and then mega balls forcing the friend to give you the money back for the date. I hope you didn't pay for the broad too.

Girls that talk about their exes like that are still in love with them, and Saro you did well not mentioning yours. There isn't much worse you can do than whine about your exes on a date with a new girl.

I paid for the chick too, but after retelling the story to my friend he refunded me the whole amount. It wasn't a ton anyway. I don't believe in expensive places for a first date.

Also, if a date is going badly then there's absolutely nothing wrong with bailing immediately, imo. Why waste more time and possibly money? Nothing wrong with a bad date. It happens to everybody and sometimes they're funny and you and your friends can laugh about it for a long time.

It depends. If they're uber crazy about politics, than its off putting, but if they enjoy a stimulating conversation about current events and political going-ons, its pretty fun.

I agree. Apolitical conversations are the best but once someone gets overly passionate on either end of the spectrum, it's an awkward night.

She might have baggage issues but the burden's partially on you. It's wise to have something snappy in reserve to change the subject and make you sound awesome in comparison. This also acts as a warning (which should be common sense, really) so if she brings them up again you can safely sever the connection.

I don't know about "alpha" but it's certainly funnier.

If you just leave in the middle of dinner then she knows right away what happened.

If you leave her when she goes behind a corner then when she comes back she has to search for a bit and be confused for a while before coming to the same conclusion.

Nearly Every girl will eventually talk about an ex boyfriend. It's inevitable. They want to see how you react to a challenge. The earlier they talk about him the more challenging they are. They are just begging for a caveman. You have two options: Option A involves talking about your ex girlfriend, Option B, my personal option, is telling her to her that perhaps she should go find him and stop wasting my time.

If anyone, male or female spends an entire first date obsessed with an ex, it means two things:

1. They still either love said ex and/or want to be with said ex.

2. You are being used as a replacement for said ex and you have a very long hill to climb from the getgo that you usually have no chance of ever actually climbing.

I actually like dates where they talk about ex-boyfriends at first, because it's easy to use that as a way to establish dominance. Let them know just how little patience you have for that kind of talk, and be completely willing to cut the date off there and then; works wonders.

Well of course, but if it's on a first date it's exceptionally annoying and isn't something you should go to in the reverse. You should only be talking about exes once you're pretty comfortable with one another.

And when you talk about your ex girlfriend you have to do it in the right way. I do dig the "go find him and stop wasting my time" line, though.

Girls do it as a way to see whether or not you're a pushover. Are you going to just sit there and let her rave all about some other guy, or do you have the balls and the willingness to cut her off? If not, it suggests that you might be intimidated.
