Each title (X-Title or not) just got a different character with an "evolution" theme.

Pretty sure they did it around the time First Class was released.

Those Season One previews are still really lame.

But I don't think we're the target audience.

Not really a good excuse, what with things like the Marvel Adventures line being so good.

They're retold origin stories to stock on shelves outside of the direct market (Disney Store, Barnes & Noble, Toys 'R Us, etc). Something to pick up for a kid while he's looking at Cars toys.

Maybe they are. Fantastic Four is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, writer of the recent Loki mini. Dennis Hopeless, writer of X-Men, worked on the well-received LoveSTRUCK. Daredevil (which genuinely looks interesting) was done by Antony Johnston, who's currently working on Spider-Island: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu. Cullen Bunn, the writer behind Spider-Man, is the writer of Sixth Gun, a very good book. These might be superfluous books to those familiar with the characters, but Marvel is placing promising young writers behind each book, which I think qualifies as "trying to put out good books."

It was good. I enjoyed it.

This is a different Batman, though. One where Batman is much younger and not nearly as talented. It's an idea I've wanted to read about for a while, honestly.

Also, and interesting blog post from Liefeld about "beating the haters". A fairly interesting read.
