Mint + Fool's Gold is great. Other than that... I'd probably go for Mint + $2 with Embargo, Duchess, or Pawn; not sure that it'd be a good idea, mind. Maybe Mint + Secret Chamber.

I would never open Mint even with Embargo, Duchess, or Pawn. I would consider it with Fool's Gold or Secret Chamber, but still probably would not do it. You've just chucked nearly all of your early game buying power right out of your deck and now half your deck is Estates. That's not really desirable. It's easy to think that trashing Copper is as good as trashing Estates, but it's really not. It's not even close.

remodeling a province into another province, then buying the last province to end the game, is awesomely satisfying

The only reason I went for it is because I confused Secret Chamber with Cellar, and thought I had a decent means of hitting $3+ when I didn't. Luckily Duchess was out at least but that game still started pretty crappy.

I really need to stop confusing pairs of cards. >_> Chamber/Cellar, Mine/Mint, Mining Village/Worker's Village, Jester/Mountebank, and anything remotely resembling Remodel all cause issues for me, whether it makes sense or no. <_<
