Right now I'd consider Super Mario 64 to be the end of old Nintendo and Mario Kart 64 to be the beginning of new Nintendo (so more or less the end of the former is 1996, and the beginning of the latter is the following year).
Although if you want to get technical, we could say this:
"Classic" Nintendo: 1985-1996 (Super Mario Bros. -> Super Mario 64) "Adolescent" Nintendo: 1997-2007 (Mario Kart 64 -> Metroid Prime 3) "Modern" Nintendo: 2007-present (Super Mario Galaxy -> Pokemon Black/White)
Judging by trends, we can expect modern Nintendo to last seven to eight more years. We can hope that the Wii U adheres to this prediction.
Where do you consider the cut-off point for "new topic" to be?
Right now I'd consider browsing other topics to be the end of old topics and creating a new topic to be the beginning of a new topic (you can apply this to 'QuickPost' as well if you have GameFox, but I understand some of us ironically don't).
Although if you want to get technical, we could say this:
"Classic" Topic: Catching up on topics that interest you (Time spent upon first returning to Board 8) "Adolescent" Topic: Contemplating posting a new topic (But still too lazy/tired from school/work whatever) "Modern" Topic: Creation of new topic for other users to read (For other users to read)
Judging by trends, we can expect modern topic to last seven to eight more pages. We can hope that the inevitable GameFAQs redesign adheres to this prediction.

Where do you consider the cut-off point for "new LMS" to be?
"Classic" LMS: Make topics about what games he is planning to play soon. No one really knew him so people gave legitimate advice. "Adolescent" LMS: People caught on to the fact that he never actually played any games and just made the same topics over and over with no progress. He still made those same topics, obliviously. "Modern" LMS: After 2 or 3 topics dedicated to bashing LMS, he caught on to the fact that people didn't like his topics, and started making different, but equally dumb/hilarious topics, like this one.
