can really only play TDM in 1-3 game spurts unless I plan ahead of time - maybe horde next weekend. no chance for campaign any time soon unless you want me running off every half hour! :( but the baby is cool :)

heres how me and neon's last TDM game goes

we have it pretty much rapped up. Theres one dude left on the other team vs. our whole team. we charge him, someone on our team ends up in a chainsaw duel with him. The whole team gathers around to watch, since we have it won anyway, why not? even if he wins, he will die.

so, the chainsaw duel is going on and then.... I hear another chainsaw, and the enemy gets cut in half. neon decided to enter the fray and end it himself.

we win.

I'll always wonder who would have won that duel... not that it matters anymore.

I've never played a game where I fluctuate in skill more than Gears. Sometimes I do excellent, other times I do absolutely godawful, oftentimes in back to back matches I switch back and forth between the two extremes. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Still loving the game, although I won't be on it for a bit cause I'm trying to grind out the last two levels to LV50 in AC: Brotherhood.

I'd love to play some Horde or Insane Campaign sometime later in the week or next week, though.

versus is tons of fun, just like the beta.

except 2 maps

Overpass
Sandbar

both these maps are so enclosed in terms of choke points. if you grab the balcony and your team sticks together, its basically game over from there.

sandbar just is so slow paced, because its waaay too open.

I wish gears had map voting for quick match.

i haven't played any versus yet, but i played horde on sandbar and was thinking that it seemed ill-suited for versus

literally the only other map i've played is gridlock

Sandbar is too big and poorly designed and bland. It'd be cool for a 10v10 match with no bonus weapons aside from inks.

Overpass needs a backdoor to the skybridge. Otherwise it's just the same stupid match over and over and if one team grabs a good weapon and gets up top, it's over

I agree with you neon, Overpass could totally be fixed. I like the map in a lot of ways, it just needs another way to the top.

So when one team gets 4-5 people up top, the only strategy for the other team is to turtle below. But that's not fun, so of course we all rush the steps and a good team will be able to stop that rush. Get rid of the turret and add stairs up to the other side, it's a good map.

The other problem is that a team stuck on the bottom should ALWAYS have the mortar/HoD, but often are too busy trying to rush up, and then the other team grabs it. This is more a problem with the HoD which you can run with.

It really bugs me that no one communicates in Gears anymore! Gears 1, you'd have like one person in a game that didn't use a mic.

Did anyone get this bug? I was playing co-op with a friend and we beat the game. His machine started rolling the credits, but mine went to the basic loading screen with Marcus Fenix angrily holding his lancer. I had to quit out to the dashboard and restart the game.

I got into a game on Overpass and no one went up top. I went up there once to get the flamethrower, that was about it. It was a fun match. The problem with staying low, is that one side starts with their grenades across from mortar/hammer. If both teams make a move for it, one has a major advantage.

Of course, that means the other side has frags across from the way up to the top, though if you're SMART and you start across from the bottom stuff, you can just stay there instead of trying to charge up.

so that one Sandbar game I asked you to quit, the second you quit, I just tore those guys up... we lost, but I finished like 7-1 (ran out of ammo so I just hid while my 1/8 k/d teammates made the match end in 2 minutes

It was the default that Bacon chose, I put in Marcus/Raam first and it immediately kicked back Skorge. I imagine he just sorta googled "gears of war enemy" and picked the first one he saw.
