We had 34 people join! That's the most for a school club where I am (2000 students at are school) not counting Sports.
Being the President I was quite happy that the club was successful!
We watched the first 4 episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho.
We chose by voting with me explaining what each anime was for those who didn't know what they were. Yu Yu Hakusho got an outrageous number of votes compared to the other stuff I brought. All I said was it was a shonen like Bleach and One Piece and they went nuts! I guess that's to be expected.
Anyway are selection was:
Baccano! Cowboy Bebop Escaflowne Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo Gurren Lagann Trigun Wolf's Rain Yu Yu Hakusho (Won)
They all liked Yu Yu Hakusho and said they want to see it again next week.
Do they cosplay like every day? Cause I remember the anime club at my college was easily the largest club too. And the president cosplayed nearly every day.
You really should have picked different shows. And picking something long like YYH is a pretty bad idea in the first place.

surprisingly enough all I heard was it's over 9000 a couple times and One Piece attacks like Gum Gum (insert Move here) every couple minutes. Most of them are like 15-17 years old.

No but one Girl dressed as Lucy from Elfen Lied a couple days ago.
Chrono1219 posted... Do highschool clubs like that have budgets do do things etc? Like I know in college we were able to head to conventions and stuff like that.
We are planning on a trip to Anime North this year. Hopefully that will go through.
From: Diet Water | #019 Bleach was originally rejected by Jump for being too much of a Yu Yu Hakusho ripoff.
And it's still too much of a ripoff. I mean from what I can remember and from what I heard, one of the arcs is pretty much exactly like the Chapter Black saga.

I plan on brining more non mainstream things as the weeks go on. I just wanted to start off with things they knew or heard of. Of course the only things I brought in that they heard of were Cowboy Bebop and Trigun XD.
Elfen Lied is awesome. a rare instance of the anime being better than the manga too. because that manga drove straight through wtf land and into ;_; to finish.

you remember SHOTGUUN!! most likely, and that's about it.
also depending on their attention span, Baccano! works. it's more serious but really good as you go through it. especially if they dig crazy ****. just compare it to Pulp Fiction in storytelling and hopefully they'll get it.
thought everyone had seen Bebop and Trigun by now. ignore Escaflowne and Wolf's Rain. Gankutsuou uh.. really doesn't fit a very 'anime club' environment. Gurren Lagann is an easy one to make 'em get into because it's another shounen, with robots, manly men, and chicks with boobs.
YYH is fine, but it's long. that's the only problem with it. ideally, you'll cycle through animes every week so that each has some air time that's worth watching.

I've seen all of them so I know what would be good for them. Yes Gankutsuou wouldn't really fit the vibe. Gurren Lagann works very well but a lot them have seen it. (I forgot to Mention that) Escaflowne was 2nd place because I described it as "somewhat similar to Inuyasha but with Mechs". Also I like it a lot. Wolf's Rain is probably to sad to show but I brought it anyway.
GenesisSaga posted... FLCL seems like the ideal anime to start with imo. It's original, charming, quirky, action-packed, very short, and absolutely hilarious.
I'd say I enjoyed FLCL more having watched anime for years prior, but that's just me. Definitely something that should be watched eventually in your club, without doubt.
