I mean for Vita and 3DS...
How long are you going to be playing it without being able to charge?
3 Hours+ is perfectly fine.

Doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of a portable gaming system if the response is just "you can treat it like it's not portable and plug it in wherever you go".

I'm not sure about the 3DS, but as far as the Vita is concerned, there's a nice solution out there for people who travel frequently, or play for long periods of time away from an outlet. Battery life certainly isn't a non-issue with portables, but as long as there are convenient ways to extend the battery life I'm fine with it.

Look I don't care whether you think playing more than 3 hours of games is lame or overkill or whatever (I myself never bring handhelds on a trip, mostly because I don't game that much anymore)
The point is that a portable system with 3 hours of battery life is really short and everyone who says it isn't a 'big deal' will say it is when battery life of the next handheld is 1 hour. You shouldn't accept that the standard is being lowered just because you yourself don't have a problem with it yet. -- http://img.imgcake.com/VincentLauw/ILOVEGOLFgifva.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

Topic is so dumb. They aren't exaggerated. We know the exact amount of time the battery lasts, and that time is too short for some people's needs. Whether or not you need 3-4 hours is irrelevant. There are tons of people who often ride planes or have long commutes that would want a little more life out of their portable systems. It's not like you can play it until the battery dies anyways. Most of the time you're going to turn it off when you get the low battery warning because you don't want it to shut off while you're still playing..

Then you won't have to worry about battery problems? Or always carry 100 feet of extension cords with you wherever you go? So you can always plug it in. Maybe you just have to restrict yourself to playing only five minutes at a time? A shorter battery life isn't a problem if you look at it that way. For God's sakes, the lowered battery life of the latest handhelds is an inconvenience plain and simple. Just a reminder that battery life for everything is getting shorter. Look at cell phones. My old flip phone would last a week or two, but my smartphone lasts a day. I've also had it die in 8 hours sometimes, too.
Basically, we're at a point where "portable" electronics are being increasingly tied down to outlets. Technology has allowed the performance of electronics to increase drastically, but battery technology has not kept up. This is true for handheld game systems and smartphones.
