Pictures like that make me feel uneasy too. Sometimes I look for pictures like that intentionally to force myself to will through it, because I hate the idea that an abnormal pattern is all it takes to make me feel uneasy.

The controller doesn't gross me out at all, the holes neither actually, first time I saw those I was grossed beyond belief but since I used to lurk /b/ back then I got desensitized to it pretty damn fast.

I used to have a problem with trypophobia, but not anymore, and I'm pretty sure I know why. I was also terrified by close-up pictures of spider faces without exactly being afraid of spiders themselves because of how their eyes appear. Their eyes, in a way, look like a cluster of holes. There's an order to them, like the fact their usually structures into bands like the anterior row of eyes, a dorsal row, etc. but they still look like a cluster of holes.
Well anyway, through a process I got over that fear of spider eyes and I guess the trypophobia came along with it.
Oh, sometimes when I was little I was also troubled by clusters of bubbles. I remember how I couldn't drink soda from a cup until all of the large bubbles had popped.
Oh, sorry. I just spent a summer looking at picture after picture of close-ups of spiders. Originally it was so bad that I would reveal the picture on my computer with my eyes closed, back up to the wall and slowly open my eyes again to gradually take it in.
Then I would step closer and closer. I would touch the picture on my screen.
Then I would repeat it with another one. Eventually it also led to staring at live jumping spiders up close, or through a camera. I'd take my own pictures of them. Eventually it did the trick.
Yeah, I'm not so far out there that I'm afraid of sponges.
In fact I'm not even afraid of clusters. Just, like, those photoshoped pictures where they mesh lotus pods and other assorted hives with human arms or human genitals or things like that to make it look like they've got little holes all over that part of their body, those things make my skin crawl.
