I'm arachnophobic (for good reason, since I seem to be allergic to spider bites), so if there's anyone else around I usually just screech and point at the spider and make them kill it. If I'm alone...I grab a shoe and chuck it from as far away as possible.

Depends on the type of spider

Wolf spiders are the best thing to have around. No real threat to you, no webs, and they gobble up annoying bugs.
