Had to shuffle a couple of release orders around but if you compare popularity/reception the franchises have really been quite similar.

This messes up the chronology a bit more, but oh well. *shrugs* I think this is more accurate, maybe I could switch Ratatouille and Wall-E as well.
I don't...really see the parallels, to be honest; Other than Super Mario Galaxy = Wall-E.

WazzupGenius00 posted... yeah Ratatouille is like the least popular of all the Pixar movies, no way is it SM64 or Galaxy
It fits Sunshine a lot better imo
Which is disappointing because it's easily their best movie.Comparing it to Sunshine is an insult (I actually enjoyed Sunshine and thought it was better than Galaxy).

Super Mario Bros = Toy Story Super Mario Bros 2 = Toy Story 2 Super Mario Bros 3 = Toy Story 3
Now this, strangely enough, does hold up for me. The first is the original that started it all and gave birth to an entire genre within its artform, and is extremely important for what it did but I consider it to be overrated nowadays. The second one is the underappreciated one of the trilogy that I like more than the first regardless, and will defend to the death. And then the third one is just the epitome of the series, no question about it.
Toy Story 2 is the top rated movie of all time on Rottentomatoes. Hard to call that underappreciated.
If you're referring to the "fresh" rating, there are 1000+ movies with 100%. If you're referring to the average rating, 8.7, it's not near the top. Stil a very, very well received movie obviously though.

Every time I see someone give an opinion about the Toy Story series 2 is nearly always at the bottom. Besides that, Toy Story is actually rated higher on Rottentomatoes than Toy Story 2 (better average rating).
