Sure LOST has flaws but in my mind they only highlight the strengths. The show was sort of an epic, glorious mess. I'm almost done with the flawless The Wire but I still love LOST a lot more.

I also feel sorry who anyone who gets into the show now because you really missed out on an experience. By far the most fun I've ever had on the internet.

All I need to say is that Season 6 could be better, the ending was controversial, but after all I liked it, and man, did I cry at the final act. (and given I have faced a death afterwards, will cry again during a rewatch...) Miss those days where Board 8 had watchthroughs of the show (that due to avoid spoiling the TCs, didn't end in flame wars like the one here...).

As someone who was involved in LOST apologetics for months after the finale (still in denial, I suppose), I can assure everyone that most of those "partially explained" mysteries were wholly unsatisfactory.

-Why didn't the Smoke Monster like ash rings or electric barriers? Just because.
-Why could the cabin move? Just because.
-Why did Jacob bring Henry Gale to the Island? Just because.
-Why is the Light important? Just because.
-Why is the Monster leaving the Island a bad thing? Just because.
-Where does the power of the Protector come from, and what are its limits? lol dunno
-What was Walt's real significance? lol dunno

I remember legitimately thinking they were both gonna explode while running to embrace each other. I like Jin, but that would have ruled. They both died anyway!

Oh come now. It was said that the light, if tampered with, could wipe out all life everywhere.

Yes, but why? There's no reason given for why such an important Light is contained on some random Island, nor why its going out would wipe out all life. It's the same situation as with the Monster: the viewer gets vague premonitions, but no concrete explanations, releasing any tension or conflict the show's final act could (and should) have had.

I guess every movie and every TV show ever has to show complete resolution up to every character's death, not just until the main conflict that the plot revolved around is concluded.
