Actually the counter to the Duke/Duchy strat or or the gardens strat is to either pick some up yourself or if you think you can get a lot of provinces faster then they can get a lot of Dukes and Duchies.
Anyways, it's a bit difficult to tell how well you did based off of only your deck.

From: Paratroopa1 | #053 You have way too many King's Courts per other actions in the deck there.
Whys that? Felt about right, as I would get them with village/hunting party.. although there were a few times i only had a kings court, i guess because I had too many?
I mostly impossible to answer question, but should I have bought less kings courts or more villages/hunting parties
Yeah, the idea is that I would've wanted more Hunting Parties compared to the number of KCs you have. Most of your actions aren't very good to KC with - Sea Hag is great early but becomes completely worthless when the curse pile runs out, Trade Route is a difficult proposition because it's a forced trash, Moat is decent but kind of sad compared to... almost any other card-drawing card I can think of, and then there's Village, which you also have way too many of in this deck. You only want Villages when you have terminal actions and you have barely any terminal actions. KCing a Village isn't worthless but there are far better things to be doing.
KCing a Hunting Party is good, but you only have two Hunting Parties. Actually, this might surprise you, but given the kind of cards you have in your deck, I would actually say the ideal number of KCs for your setup is zero. I know that might be hard to believe, but KC is not as much of a must-buy as you might believe. It really depends on what you can KC.
or the league could be 'everyone go play on isotropic and post stories and whoever gets the most cool stories is league champion' with the advantage being that we have retroactively started.
serious answer: league, not tournament. I think about half of us are looking to improve, and playing one game won't help with that.

Ideally, this should be a league where you play lots of games, like a baseball kind of schedule, or at least a basketball one. I think games should be played in like, 3 game, if not 5 game series. Kind of like baseball, you need to play quite a few games of Dominion before you really start to see who's the best.
It's kinda true. Everybody plays three games against everybody else? It's not like the games take all that long once you all get online together. And then maybe have some sorta best-of-five playoffs at the end.
Ideally I'd kinda like to do fun "stip" tournaments too, maybe like how smogon does for Pokemon. Got a few ideas knocking around in my head, but I'd wanna wait until after we do a more normal something.

Gimmick tournaments. Off the top of my head, things like letting the opponents take turns picking each card of the kingdom, or something like no provinces, or only terminals, or no attacks, or only one type of Kingdom card per deck.

I also kind of like the idea of doing something like, sort of how in contract bridge everyone plays the same hands and you compare how people do, it'd be interesting if like, everyone used the same setup.
I'm starting to hit a point where I'm getting REALLY good at Dominion, at least 1v1 - I'm wrecking almost everyone I play and that includes other people ranked close to or higher than me. So it's time to start a league now!
Black Market allows you play your treasure without going into the buy phase, allowing you to play all your money and then play Tactician afterwards, as long as you leave one card. Then you can buy like normal, and then get a super Tactician turn afterwards.
The game in which I discovered this combo also included Goons, Farming Village, and Gardens. Farming Village is a great engine piece for this, getting you the actions you need while cycling through your green cards, and Goons is obviously just obscene in a deck where you can get tons of cards and extra buys. Gardens is then obscene because you have a s***load of cards in your deck. I won significantly, although my opponent figured out my tactic and copied it so it wasn't a completely obscene victory. It was like 96-78. I also got a Sea Hag as my first Black Market draw, which was amazing because there were no cursers in the setup.
This guy is like the most advanced village idiot I've ever seen. He probably could've beaten me, but he wasted all this time buying out the entire f***ing kingdom while I settled for a crappy deck that had a lot of green cards in it.
I so thoroughly broke this poor guy that I think he just gave up. I'd feel bad, but I don't, because it's Dominion and if you don't pull these shenanigans then other people will do the same back to you.
cf is best | Posted 9/1/2011 1:09:40 PM | message detail | quote Wow a Witch/Embargo 5/2 he stood no chance.
Wouldn't quite say that - Witch/Embargo is a brutal opening, yes, but he still should've done one or two things - he either should've bought a Young Witch and fought me on Curses with that, since I probably was not going to keep a bunch of Embargos lying around in my hand to use as protection, or he should've bit the bullet and bought a Witch even though I Embargoed them - really my intention wasn't even to stop him from getting the Witches, it was to make absolutely sure that I got a headstart in the Curse battle, or force him to use the worse Witches instead. (And I drew my Witch and Embargo in the same hand anyway.) He did neither of these things and instead went for useless things like having a big stack of Pirate Ships and Mines that did nothing to help him.
Oh I know, I would have absolutely bought a Witch, that guy was stupid. However, it's still quite an uphill battle since the curses would have probably gone like 7-3 in your favor.

I would've gone the Young Witch route with a 4-3 split, personally, and try to get a 5-5 split or at least a 4-6 split. If he had I probably would not have even Embargoed the Witches at all.
"The number of spots will be determined by the amount of interest, how many people per game you want to play (isotropic supports up to 4-person games)."
ACTUALLY, the website allows you to play with as many as 600 people in one game, if you want. It just automatically keeps scaling the winning requirements up for you (like when you add a 5th person you need to run through 4 full card stacks instead of 3). The most I've ever done personally is an 8 person game.
Anyways, guess I'll sign up, since this game is a blast!

thengamer.com/guru thengamer.com/xstats board8.wikia.com You should search for The Show, the cool podcast featuring Guru Champ Black Turtle!
So there's a new veto mode on Isotropic that lets players ban cards from the board before the game starts. It's kinda cool since it allows for a bit of control to what's on the board.
