Once again, CT was one vote away from being a unanimous #1. RE4 takes back #3 after its big win last week. MGS1 and FFX crash the top 10. PW1 is ranked above PW3 for the first time since Week 3. MM2 returns and Portal returns the favor to FFVII by edging it out for #25 after a win over Wind Waker last week.
New matches soon.

It's a borderline game with no huge wins under its belt - I'm not surprised people still aren't ranking it. It's also against FFVI this week, so we'll see if it deserves its spot.

Janus5000 posted... There were 17 votes that were fully counted, right? So the points should add up to 325*17 = 5525.
Leon's adds up to 5512, Tsunami's differs by 14 points (Galaxy +15, OoT -1) which leads to 5526.
So while that may be closer, it's still somehow wrong.
(Unfortunately for the oppressors, I just got 231 for Galaxy. <_<)
Huh? My spreadsheet shows 5525. Did I miss another error in Leon's count?

Oh right, I'll be making the Week 15 Rivalry Week schedule at the end of this week (Hard to believe we're already almost at the halfway point of the contest! Even harder to believe I haven't quit yet!), so feel free to make your suggestions.
I think I've made plenty of suggestions so far, but here goes my opinions on some ideal matchups:
Chrono Trigger vs. Super Mario 64 - Contest rivalry, also this will be cool to kick Mario 64 out of the top 5 in this fashion (also cool if it's done today, but I'm not voting for something I haven't played over an all-time favorite)
Super Mario Bros. 3 vs. Super Mario Galaxy - Interseries matchup, also since Galaxy beat World we need to see it in action against 3, assuming that we're saving SMB3 vs. SMW for the final week.
Super Metroid vs. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - D'oh? Assuming that Metroid Prime vs. Super Metroid is saved for the final week.
Final Fantasy VI vs. Final Fantasy VII - Interseries matchup, with FFVII vs. FFX saved for the final week and FFVI going against...maybe FFIX?
Super Mario Galaxy 2 vs. Super Mario World - Battle of the Mario platformers with Yoshi featuring prominently on both box arts!!!
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past vs. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Rivalry from IGN's contest
Resident Evil 4 vs. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Contest rivalry, and I want to take a break from the inter-MGS matchups until the final week.
Civilization IV vs. StarCraft - Battle of the juggernaught PC strategy titles!!!
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker vs. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Interseries matchup, plus Wind Waker beat something that Ocarina lost to so...yeah.
Metroid Prime vs. Portal - Same console matchup. Likely doesn't end well for Prime, but this was the best I could think of involving Melee assuming that Melee vs. Brawl is saved for the final week.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess vs. Half-Life 2 - Contest rivalry, plus they both have two-vote wins over the same opponent.
Star Fox 64 vs. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - Fox's sole game in the tournament against Yoshi's.
Mario Kart 64 vs. Super Smash Bros. - N64 multiplayer battle!!!
Metal Gear Solid vs. Final Fantasy Tactics - Contest rivalry.
Xenogears vs. Final Fantasy VIII - (sort of) Contest rivalry, plus they both share the same company, console, and genre at least!
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty vs. Shadow of the Colossus - Again, contest rivalry.
Portal vs. Fallout 3 - Contest rivalry, and Fallout 3 should get exposed even more.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots vs. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Contest rivalry, d'oh.
Batman: Arkham Asylum vs. GoldenEye 007 - Battle of the famous licensed games, plus GoldenEye may stand a chance at victory!

Dear god it was difficult to come up with something for Metroid Prime to face in another rivalry week. I think first I came up with Fallout 3, then Kingdom Hearts, then Super Smash Bros. Melee, then Portal. I meant to change it back to Melee but obviously I forgot to.
Oh yeah, we MUST hold World of Warcraft vs. Umineko.

From: th3l3fty | #040 Leon how tempted are you to run CT/RBY in week 15
Not at all.
Also, there's so much wrong with Tsunami's logic regarding R/B/Y and CT's opponents it's laughable and I have no time to address it.
Although I got a good laugh out of him trying to act like CT's win over LTTP wasn't as impressive because the match only got 49 votes, and acting like CT crushing F-Zero was only barely more impressive than R/B/Y crushing a game whose two wins are against Umineko and World of Warcraft.
F-Zero would destroy Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Someone else deal with the rest of that trainwreck of a post.

let's do a comparison of the strengths of the opponents of game A and game B!
Week 1: A - 10, B - 9 Week 2: A - 9, B - 8 Week 3: A - 8, B - 7 Week 4: A - 7, B - 6 Week 5: A - 6, B - 5 Week 6: A - 5, B - 4 Week 7: A - 4, B - 3 Week 8: A - 3, B - 2 Week 9: A - 2, B - 1 Week 10: A - 1, B - 10 Week 11: A - 1, B - 10 Week 12: A - 1, B - 10 Week 13: A - 1, B - 10
clearly A is superior because it won 9 out of 13 weeks!

You think I like RBY and/or hate Chrono Trigger? Well, I've already stated that I'm not too fond of Chrono Trigger, but...through the first 12 weeks, I think I have voted for CT 7 times, against it four times (Weeks 2, 5, 6, and 12), and abstained once (Week 4). RBY I've voted for 8 times and against four times (Weeks 3, 5, 8, and 10), and it really should be 7 and 5, but in the only instance of voting for what I believed to be the "better" game as far as this contest was concerned rather than voting for the one I preferred, I voted for RBY against Melee in Week 4, something I never would've done if it hadn't beaten FFVI the previous week. This week, Chrono Trigger will take the advantage unconditionally, as I'm definitely voting against RBY this week and probably will vote for CT, although I was considering abstaining before this discussion broke out because, you know, I'm such a big fan of 3D Sonic games, right? Next week, I'm definitely voting for CT, and probably against RBY again.
Ah, but someone else earlier said that I was a Pokémon fan. True. Looking back at those times I voted against RBY and Chrono Trigger, you'll see that both times that one of them faced a later-generation Pokémon game (RBY against B/W and CT against RSE), I voted for the later-generation Pokémon game. I'd vote against RBY if it went against RSE or DPP, too, and I think I'd have to abstain if it faced GSC. I'd vote for RBY against FR/LG if it hadn't been removed from the contest, but I would vote for HG/SS against any of the other Pokémon games. But here's the question: What would I vote for if Chrono Trigger actually faced RBY? Truthfully, I have no idea. Before this contest started, I wouldn't hesitate to say Chrono Trigger, but with RBY getting disrespected like this, I've got to support it. For Chrono Trigger, "disrespect" is me being the only one to vote it #2. #2, people, it's not like I'm saying it's gotten an easy path to its 12-0 record! Everyone else had it at #1, but look at some of the other ballots.
Had RE4 faced anything that had been receiving top 25 consideration prior to its win over Galaxy last week? I have plenty of respect for Galaxy, and RE4 is one of the few games that has never really had a close match (although that could easily work against it), a lot of blowouts against fodder and one quality win does not make you a #2, especially not when there are two other undefeated games that have handily beaten multiple top-25 games.
th3l3fty
1. Chrono Trigger 2. Super Smash Bros. Melee 3. Super Mario 64 4. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
Melee has two losses, one of which was against RBY. SM64, I won't necessarily argue too hard against--given its schedule, if it were 12-0 instead of 11-1 I'd probably have voted it #1. But a 10-2 record isn't good enough for #2, especially when the other loss was to Phoenix Wright back when Phoenix Wright was struggling (2 losses in the first three weeks, then barely beat Banjo-Kazooie in Week 4. Seriously, Banjo-Kazooie. It's a fun game, but not something that should be beating a supposedly top-25 game.)
But let's get back to the point. If Chrono Trigger and RBY had faced each other in Week 1, I probably would've voted for CT. Well, maybe not--RBY does have the nostalgia factor, whereas Chrono Trigger is just this thing that I heard was good so I bought the remake when it was ported to the DS. So in week 1, I very well might have voted for RBY. But now, if that match came up in another contest? No question. Chrono Trigger gets my vote. Just not in this one. (Hey, look, it's that "variance" thing that LMS refuses to acknowledge!)

Ulti (in one of his Post-Contest Analyses): God of War turned a 5 hour deadlock into a total laugher Anagram: Oh God, Tidus and Yuna were involved?
Why? Because Chrono Trigger is the better game. RBY, it's nice and all, and it launched a great series, but it's overrated by nostalgia. Come on, who here would vote for RBY over RSE or DPP? Okay, now how many of those same people would vote for SMB1 (if it were in this contest, which it isn't) over SMB3 or SMW? Hell, the fact that every match between two Mario platformers has gone in favor of the more recent game proves this point--just because you're the codifier doesn't make you better. Chrono Trigger? Pretty much a standalone game. There were some sequels, but the general opinion is that the sequels were terribly average. (Reminder: Chrono Cross lost a Square SFF battle against Xenogears. This proves that the "Chrono" name alone can't buy wins. Do you really think that Super Mario Sunshine would lose to something like F-Zero GX? Because I'm not even sure it would lose to Mother 3.) I suspect this is where RBY gets its advantage. People love a codifier, and Chrono Trigger is...very unique. Which is totally a good thing. People used to the old turn-based method of JRPGs would get their asses kicked by Chrono Trigger, and it's not even like a Tales of... game where you can let your reflexes take over, because actions still are inputted in a turn-based fashion. (Damn, Tales of Phantasia was so broken when letting Arche be the player-controlled character. Half of the enemies in the bonus dungeon couldn't do a damn thing about it if I just floated over them and started spamming the A button.) But like I said, RBY has defeated five games that I think are better than it; Chrono Trigger has beaten at most four, and that's assuming that every time I voted against Chrono Trigger I actually thought the other game was better, not just something I liked more. At least three of RBY's opponents are definitely "better" (in my opinion) than Chrono Trigger as well, and I'd probably vote for all five of those against CT--6, including this week's opponent, SMW. I understand that RBY's schedule is a bit more polarized--a lot of good games, a lot of bad games, very little in the middle--but it's definitely done a lot more to impress. (And yeah, my perceptions probably are skewed--three of the top 5 from my preseason ballot had already lost to RBY by Week 5, and I fully admit that Star Fox 64 is my personal favorite game of all time. Incidentally, Leon, if I hadn't missed that tiebreaker, how would your tiebreaker vote have gone?)
Okay, enough responding to the Chrono Trigger Defense Squadron's master baiters. I'm kind of sad that it's RBY and not CT that's up today, because I've got one hell of a countertroll planned. Well, regardless, Chrono Trigger will be ahead of RBY in the end, anyway, because I fully expect RBY to pick up a few losses. To go back to the NCAA basketball analogy, Nintendo Objections is like the Big East (gets half of its teams in the tournament year after year) and Smash Trigger is like the Horizon League (contains one team that is capable of getting to the national championship game in back-to-back years, but is a one-bid league except for when that team gets upset in the conference tourney). I'm still not entirely convinced that CT will end the year #1 in RPI, because Smackdown Hotel actually does have enough quality games in it that I think RE4 will pass CT if both go undefeated for the entire year, but...I don't think that RBY will be able to stay undefeated.

The actual issue I have with you is your earlier comment that you're ready to drop CT to #5 or lower if future results occur as you expect. Barring a surprise loss, CT being #5 or below is more than just "disrespect", it's "lunacy". How can it drop to #5 or lower while undefeated while two of its main competitors for a Top 5 spot, SMB3 and LttP, were both decisively beaten by CT?
Also, you're right about l3fty. His SSBM love is atrocious.
