I thought the budget for Pirates 4 was about $100 million more than that.

I remember seeing that it didn't even make its budget back domestically, but it's the 3rd highest-grossing movie of all-time Internationally (excluding America).

"Dinosaurs vs Aliens" is going to be one of the greatest movies of the decade (no sarcasm there, Grant Morrison is a god), but society is never going to take a movie like that seriously.

Looked at the Wikipedia page, and you might be right: it lists the budget as being "$150-$250 million." Who knows what the truth is? :P

well it's based off of a graphic novel called "Cowboys & Aliens" so they really didn't have much choice.

Of course they had a choice.

Unless they bought it but allowed the creator of the graphic novel to have full creative control, in which case the studio deserves to make no money off it because you can't buy something that sounds as dumb as "Cowboys & Aliens" and not know that you have to rename it.

The title's fantastic. It reeks with that B-movie charm, something the movie was supposed to be chock full of. Unfortunately, it sounds like it's generic, even with a premise that off-the-wall, which is a shame.

That's really the big problem with this! They made a movie called Cowboys & Aliens, and want us to take it seriously. If this was a campy, Snakes on a Plane-type film, then the title could have worked.

...I never said it was stupid. People are acting like Snakes on a Plane was legitimately advertised as this super campy joke of a movie, and it wasn't. It was advertised as exactly what it was, without trying to hide any ridiculousness of the subject. Trailers for it were quite serious and not "LOL LOOK HOW CAMPY THIS IS."

This was no different, and yet people are acting like it was somehow treated as some super serious movie and should be ridiculed because of it.

I wasn't comparing it in a BAD way. I was comparing it in a... It wasn't shy about having a silly subject, but that didn't mean it had to make a joke of itself to somehow be credible like people believe it should have, and like they believe SoaP did, when it... Didn't.
