I don't have one. There's a couple games that look alright (Zelda, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars and something else I'm forgetting right now), but the terrible battery life is what's holding me back. I've heard there's third party batteries you can buy that just go on the bottom of the 3DS, but I don't know how much they cost, or if they get in the way of what's a pretty comfortable handheld.

I might get this, though.

really the battery life isn't a problem because it comes with that charging cradle. Now instead of putting it down on a table or something when I'm done with it, I just always put it in the cradle so it's always charged when I use it.

A below three hour battery life for any handheld or mobile device is unacceptable. A charging cradle isn't any more convinient than a cord, anyway, unless you have a cradle capable of charging multiple devices at one time.

well I don't know about you but I always forget to charge my handhelds, but with the cradle being there I never forget now. As a result I'm just saying I've never had my 3DS battery die on me so it's never been a problem.

If I'm not using my DS or PSP, they go on their cord next to my consoles. If I'm not using my iPod, it's charging on my laptop. My blackberry charges while I sleep. Pretty easy to keep track!

8 retail games sounds a bit crazy.

quiet GMUN even you can't justify owning that many 3DS games this early. I have 3 and that's been enough for me so far. I still play more regular DS games and Virtual Console games on it at the moment than anything else.

that super monkey ball game looks pretty awful. I was watching a Quick Look EX of it a few months ago and even the SEGA representative was having a hard time saying it was a good game.

Every 3DS owner before August 12th gets 20 free games. So if you purchase a cheap 3DS now, you'll get 20 games.

your brother has terrible taste and doubt there's a reason to own any of those fighting games -- maybe BB but I have a soft spot for Arc System Works -- if there's no community for them.

3DS ambassadorial duties mostly involve playing a bunch of free games. The status grants you access to 10 free NES Virtual Console games on September 1 before their general release (these include The Legend of Zelda, Balloon Fight and Ice Climber), along with 10 more Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games by the end of 2011. The GBA games -- like Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames and Mario vs. Donkey Kong -- will not be available to anyone else. Is all that enough to ameliorate early buyer's remorse?

That's something Nintendo announced the other day. All you have to do is connect your 3DS to the eShop by 11:59 PM on August 11th and you'll get 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games
