Board 8 > Final Fantasy 5, 6 or 9?

Despite Final Fantasy being one of my favourite series in gaming, I haven't beat many of them that I own. Namely 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9. 3 and 4 are off the table until I find my DS (refuse to play 4 on my PS3) so the choices are in the topic title.

I've beaten almost all of 6 (WoR with everyone but a couple dudes) and played about halfway through 5..but I'd be starting a new game on both just because it's been so long. I've only played a disc or so of 9, but I'm starting that from the beginning as well.

Now I'm not asking which I should play, I simply want to know which is your favourite of the three. I want something fun from start to finish.

Playing V now, can't really say anything on that yet. But definitely play VI, then nine, if not just for the fact of doing them chronologically. Both are equally amazing.

What makes 5 on the GBA better? I'm pretty sure that I will never find my DS Lite, so playing this version would require me to buy another one (was planning on getting a 3DS once it got some games).

The GBA version is only better if you emulate it anyway, cause lol tiny screen.

Most people say the GBA version is better because of a better/funnier script, though I think the script is awful in any version of FFV.

Final Fantasy VI is the only Final Fantasy I've beaten so yeah.

It leaped right up into my top 5 games though.

I think 6 is still be the B8 favorite by a bit, but 9 is much more well-liked here than it is most places (5 is too, for that matter).

The B8 favorite is definitely between IX and X by far.
VI a close third I suppose.

Which quite frankly is just another notch in the lol B8 belt.

I'm sure you can change the battle speed in IX can't you?

Even on "fastest" it's incredibly slow. That coupled with the 8 seconds it takes to pan around the scene before each fight is bumming me out.

But of the three it's the one I've played the least, so I guess I'm more excited to finish it.

Hmm. I guess there is still time to change. I do love Faris... And Terra.

8 seconds is a fast pan for FFIX. Normally from the time the screen starts blurring until the battle starts, it's about 22 seconds.

FFV is pretty much the best. Job system.

Sushi, kamikaze, fujiyama, nippon-ichi...

There are only two bad things about FFIX.

The slow camera pan in battles (you get used to it), and Eiko (kill it with fire).

The rest of it is pretty much golden.

6 is my favorite RPG, but I'll suggest 9. It's prettier and probably more accessible and is my second favorite FF game.

Yeah, I think it's 8ish seconds when the battle screen actually loads, it's pretty brutal. Definitely wishing I went with 5 at this point...that battle music.

I'm not liking what you said about Eiko though. Based on art alone I thought she would be one of my favourite characters... Especially since she's a summoner too. I better end up loving this game.

Don't worry. I like literally every other member of the cast - major, minor, villain, and otherwise. It's a very diverse, very awesome cast. I just have a personal hatred for Eiko. But it's a pretty minor dark spot on the game in the grand scheme of things, as far as I'm concerned. I don't even know if my opinion is generally shared. >_>
