Looks like CT got 13 out of 14 #1 votes, but its victory margin over #2 actually went down due to RBY becoming the de facto #2 with LTTP's loss. I wonder why we got fewer voters than before too.

We have traveled back in time, to an era where Chrono Trigger was #1 in the RPI, and Board 8 had good taste. Wait...scratch that, that never happened.

Yeah, I had been a bit disturbed by the lower vote total as well. But good catch--I would've assumed that the lower victory margin was more a result of the lowered total, but there were 19 votes last week and Chrono Trigger won by 33. 33/19 is...something that's greater than 1.5 (too lazy to calculate right now), whereas 21/14 is exactly 1.5.

LMS, just because Leon isn't here does NOT mean you can get away with posting match counts in the voting topics. As guest host, I am enforcing Leon's policies, so stifle yourself.

which happens first: LMS gets banned from the entire contest for repeatedly ignoring the rules, or KCF gets his weekly ranking DQ'd for terrible reasoning

Witty commentary will have to be saved for a time when I will not be heading off the internet soon. You guys can make the big joke of the day by yourself; it's self-explanatory.
Also this is probably Civ4's best match so far in the contest - it was only four votes away from defeating a game which was once widely considered to be a top 25 candidate. Although we have to play devil's advocate and realize that this is Civ4's first loss since week 4, not to mention that Civ4 may have been soaking up Pokemon anti-votes.
I suppose Civ4 just loves to devour those anti-votes.

A light day of Top 25 action means a light day of action on the board. Mario Kart 64 races up into the rankings, and Metroid Prime returns to take Brawl's vacated spot on the board.

charmander6000 posted... Any other game of Melee's strength would do it, why can't Melee? But anyways, I didn't even get to vote against Brawl this time.
rSFF I guess.
Though that would mean Smash fans overwhelmingly prefer Brawl while overall Melee has more fans.
Isn't it exactly the opposite?

It means the majority of Smash fans prefer Brawl slightly, but it's close enough that against most external opponents they'll vote for either Smash game or neither Smash game. On the other hand, some Melee fans will vote Melee over almost anything and almost anything over Brawl.
Yeah and now that I think about it more, the more it makes sense.
I've yet to meet a noticeable amount of people that love Brawl, but hate Melee and from my experience the ones that love both games do prefer Brawl to Melee and while it is a small minority that hates Brawl those votes do make a difference when it comes down to some of the tougher games.

BOP Results: http://charmander6000.webs.com/GotD%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Black Turtle for winning the guru contest.
Thing is, Brawl easily has the superior character cast, and that's really what matters most in a fighting game. Brawl is also more versatile due to characters like Snake, R.O.B., Mr. Game and Watch, Zero Suit Samus, yadda yadda yadda. I simply find Melee to be more fun and more satisfying due to its faster pace, better stages, and greater feeling of inspiration.
In regards to personal tastes, I'd regard Melee to be a "top tier" game, while Brawl is "close to top tier but no cigar".
Then again my favorite Metroid game is Super Metroid even though I finished all three Metroid Primes, Fusion, and Zero Mission before my first playthrough and have only been a fan of that series for 3.5 years, so I'm somehow a great deal different from the "majority" when it comes to most video game franchises and my opinions.
I know Leonhart technically told me not to ask stuff like this, but I couldn't resist: is there anyone else on the board who prefers both Super Mario Galaxies to Super Mario 64, prefers Twilight Princess to both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, AND prefers Melee to Brawl?

Wow, FFX did awful. I'm more and more tempted to say that FF6 is the most competitive Final Fantasy, despite not even being voted enough points to make the Top 25. At least it beat Mario Galaxy 2.
The best FFX has done is scrape by three borderline Top 25 games: Yoshi's Island, Okami, and TP. Oh, and and beat FFIX through SFF. The only thing it's done well against is fodder.
I'm very happy for MK64, though! I wouldn't mind voters hopping on the bandwagon for it... be a little more friendly towards it and toss it a vote, please. :)

"Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think."
I've said before that I'm on vacation, so the match schedule would be a bit irregular. The world isn't going to end if an OT match isn't started exactly when the main match ends. (At any rate, I still need to put together the official count to make sure it tied!)
So, Tsunami, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I can't count your spontaneous OT topic.

That's too bad, because I spent most of the last hour composing a results post--which gave a new appreciation for what Leon does every day. Never again will I complain about the results being a little late. (Oh, and sorry, I didn't notice where you said that you, too, are on vacation. Kind of makes me think that Leon should've just put the contest on hold, though.)
The results post is all ready, now. All I'd have to do is press "post".

What, do you really want Leon to put the contest on hold for another week, when just a few hours of no contest drove you crazy? It's not ideal for Leon to be out of town at the same time I'm on vacation and l3fty's laptop broke down, but we're making the best of our situation.
Ok, checked through the voting topic, a tie did happen. Will post an official OT topic shortly, then I'll get the next day running.

"A few hours of no contest" didn't drive me crazy. "Extremely tardy updating when the contest is supposed to not be on hiatus" did, because it seems like laziness (even though I now know that this wasn't the case).

Day 62 Results (sorry, but I ain't wasting an hour's worth of work):
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Games of the Decades Conference) (2-9) - 22 (59.46%) MVP Baseball 2K5 (Metroid Eater Conference) (0-11) - 15 (40.54%) These two games fought evenly for most of the match, but CoD4 went on a run to pick up its second win.
#7 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Zelda Overload Conference) (10-1) - 29 (80.56%) Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time (Twilight Barrel Galaxy Conference) (3-8) - 7 (19.44%) ALttP bounces back from its loss to Chrono Trigger with a quadrupling of Ratchet and Clank.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Cult RPG Galaxy Conference) (5-6) - 26 (70.27%) Guitar Hero II (Sonic Overload Conference) (1-10) - 11 (29.73%) An RPG crushing a rhythm game. No surprises here.
Shadow Hearts (Cult RPG Galaxy Conference) (5-6) - 11 (32.35%) Half-Life 2 (Sonic Overload Conference) (9-2) - 23 (67.65%) Half-Life 2 continues to try to make a case for Top 25 consideration by sending Shadow Hearts to its fourth straight loss.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (Smash Trigger Conference) (6-5) - 17 (47.22%) Shadow of the Colossus (Patriot Time Portals Conference) (5-6) - 19 (52.78%) Though barely above .500, MvC2 is still in second place in the Smash Trigger Conference.
Nier (Tanooki Blitzball Conference) (2-9) - 17 (56.67%) Gears of War (Sonic Overload Conference) (0-11) - 13 (43.33%) Nier > Gears in a low-scoring match. That's 2 wins in a row after an 0-9 start, albeit against a pair of winless games.
#9 Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations (Fanservice Conference) (11-0) - 20 (9-8 OT) (51.28%) Street Fighter II (Tanooki Blitzball Conference) 19 (48.72%) Phoenix had to overcome a huge deficit against its Capcom rival to tie up the main match, but never trailed in either the unofficial or the official OT.
Burnout 3: Takedown (Smash Trigger Conference) (4-7) - 16 (47.06%) Diablo II (Twilight Barrel Galaxy Conference) (5-6) - 18 (52.94%) Burnout 3 was actually the first game to break the 10-vote mark yesterday--yes, even before ALttP--but couldn't hang on as Diablo II's losing streak ends at 5.
Jet Force Gemini (Smash Trigger Conference) (4-7) - 18 (56.25%) Mega Man Legends (Metroid Eater Conference) (1-10) - 14 (43.75%) JFG was in control pretty much throughout the match.
Dark Cloud 2 (Smash Trigger Conference) (4-7) - 10 (30.30%) Xenogears (Brawl for Broke Conference) (7-4) - 23 (69.70%) Xenogears might be better than its record indicates, given that three of its four losses are to top-25 games.
#12 Metal Gear Solid (Zelda Overload Conference) (10-1) - 23 (67.65%) Valkyria Chronicles (Brawl for Broke Conference) (6-5) - 11 (32.35%) Metal Gear Solid just keeps rolling along.
Sonic CD (Sonic Overload Conference) (3-8) - 15 (46.88%) Suikoden II (Nintendo Objections Conference) (8-3) - 17 (53.13%) That's 7 straight losses for Sonic CD, which despite being a 2D game has the worst record of any Sonic game.
Chrono Cross (Sonic Overload Conference) (7-4) - 18 (51.43%) Killer7 (Metroid Eater Conference) (4-7) - 17 (48.57%) A close-fought battle goes in favor of the RPG.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Patriot Time Portals Conference) (8-3) - 21 (63.64%) God of War II (Cult RPG Galaxy Conference) (3-8) - 12 (36.36%) Metal Gear goes 2 for 2 today.
