Hi Dynamic Range. Done by taking several over and underexposed photos and then combining them. Having a tripod allows you get get a greater ranger of exposure, probably going to try some more out with it sometime next week.

XD Filesize too large for Cake and I don't feel like coding myself an exception right now.
And ahh, just realized I forgot to take care of the ghosting on that one... oops.

Do you like your Nikon? I've been using a borrowed Nikon (d40, not quite as advanced as yours) for a while and I've been looking into getting a camera of my own. I'm wondering if I should keep with a Nikon or maybe switch over to something like Sony.

Nikon is pretty good and if you're used to a borrowed camera, you can always just try and pick up a used body. It's all about the lenses anyway.
And by "Nikon is pretty good" I mean "Nikon is the best". Canon is close. no need to mess with Sony for DSLR

Pretty much what neon said. I'd avoid Sony and go for Canon if you decide Nikon isn't for you. But Nikon > all imo. (This judgment is mostly blind fanboyism, Nikon and Canon seem to be pretty evenly matched. For near professional I don't think you can do much better price-wise than the D5000 though.)
