On topic regarding Dumbledore being gay:

From what I've read, he became romantically attracted to Grindelwald, but it was unrequited. Grindelwald used the attraction to his advantage to manipulate Dumbledore into helping him with his agenda, which was to lead the wizards out of hiding and teach the Muggles their place.

And the reason it took Dumbledore so long to go after him:

Basically Aberforth tried to stop Grindelwald from taking advantage of Albus, so Grindelwald hit him with the Cruciatis Curse. Albus stepped in to save his brother and dueled with Grindelwald, and Ariana (his sister) got stuck in the crossfire.

PROUD Paul Croft got a tattoo of Harry Potter wizard Albus Dumbledore on his back - but is now being teased by pals after he was outed as GAY.

Proud Paul, 36, spent a YEAR having the Hogwarts headmaster etched into his skin as a surprise for his five kids.

But the factory worker has been the butt of jokes ever since Harry Potter author JK Rowling revealed last week that Dumbledore was in love with a fellow male sorcerer.

Paul, of Nottingham, moaned yesterday: "It's been terrible. I've always liked Dumbledore - just not in that way.

"I went into work and everyone was snigering....
"There were wisecracks about ‘Watch your backs, lads.' Someone asked me if I was planning to get a tattoo of Graham Norton. I thought, ‘Why me?' "

The huge £500 tattoo shows Dumbledore holding a scroll bearing the names of his Harry Potter mad children - Charlotte, Deanna, Brandon, Tamzin and Paris.

Paul said: "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

Eh, I don't know if it was unrequited. I mean, Dumbledore had to defeat him somehow, and Grindelwald was a wizard already on Dumbledore's level, and with a wand that can't be beaten in a duel. I don't think they actually fought in that house, though I can't claim to know what did happen. It just seems more..I dunno...poetic, that Dumbledore stepped in the house, and two people who loved each other knew only one could leave.

Dumbledore didn't kill Grindelwald though, he just sent him to prison (the prison camp that Grindelwald built...one of his many uncomfortable similarities to Hitler). Voldemort killed Grindelwald.

Um... wasn't that the whole point of Dumbeldore's storyline in the last book? That despite how everybody said he was so amazing, it turns out he actually made a lot of mistakes in his past and was only human?

Seriously, Dumbledore is like the wizard version of Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Gandhi, and probably any other great inspirational leaders you can think of all rolled into one.

And then he's like "yeah Hitler gets me so hot, I used to blow him all the time".

And for the record, it would be just as bad if one of them were a woman and their relationship were heterosexual.

Dumbledore made mistakes when he was a kid...which was like 75 years before anybody else in the Harry Potter universe was born.

Dumbledore and Grindelwald were supposedly like 130 when they died.

It is because of his past mistakes that Dumbledore is so great, so merciful, and understands so fully that Harry is a better man than he ever was.

And I doubt anybody really knows what Dumbledore did in his past, all they know is that he saved the world from Grindelwald. Only Harry, Ron, and Hermoine truly know that they're on their own and there is no Dumbledore master plan.
