had this typed up before it locked, so just gonna c&p it here.

could've pretty easily done Summerslam really as it's their No. 2 and is generally the 'half the year' mark for 'em PPV wise. WM just works out since it's Miama, aka, the Rock's hometown too. 0% chance Cena chants happen.

there never was a chance of slow burning this because the Rock's simply too busy to slow burn anything. maybe you'll get the last 3 months but even then i'd sooner bank on you'd get 3 weeks that matter. you want a year long feud, you have to put a TON on the line. we recently saw one done well in ROH between Steen and Generico that was with both active year-round, and it worked really well. it can't work with one inactive 90% of the time.

and because of that, Cena has to be stuck in all the positions along the way like he is now with Punk. the Rock is technically in the story somewhere but mostly an afterthought. there's a distinction made between the two, both in how Cena perceives them and how they perceive/acknowledge Cena. if they want to give 'meaning' to it, it already has enough between 'cross generation matchup!!!' if they want more they have to create it with ongoing feuds that are different. like the best thing they can do right now to maximize it would be to have Punk win and have Cena tween a bit or flat out turn in some way. that can simmer, Punk can rise as a star, and you'd have a third person and viewpoint involved in the whole Rock/Cena argument. seeing how Rock's gonna get cheered to death over there, you then can make it so that Rock brings Cena back to the WWE universe or something like that. kinda cheesy, but better than what we've got now.

but they need to drop "it's for the WWE Championship!" stip to it too. easy to forget it's in there, but godawful. however, it WOULD have worked if they booked Summerslam, had the belt on someone else, and triple threat'd them before going singles match blowoff at WM. and for maximum effect? have the 3rd person win due to an AA from Cena, making a callback to Miz > Cena at WM due to the Rock Bottom.

I would have pushed back the hype a bit and do Cena/Rock at last WM. Cena/Taker lets Taker retire 20-0 (19-1?)

eh, Taker can probably do this for a couple years if he's '1 real match a year!'-ing. 20's a good number to end on but 21 works just as well! downside not sure who 20 would be right now. HHH, do not want. a triple threat maybe can work between HHH/HBK/Taker in a sort of "you couldn't beat him. I couldn't beat him. ...maybe we can together."

Actually, what might have worked better is if Miz/Rock went at it at SS to settle one aspect of that dispute. I mean, yes, Rock got the beat down on Miz the day after but really it wasn't as much closure as Rock/Cena is going to get.

Of course, a lot of this will have to do with how Survivor Series plays out and if there's the whole Team Bring It vs. CeNation thing going on there or whatever it leads to.

What's curious is how much Rock will wrestle up until WM28. Watching that video, he looks in the best damn shape his life to be quite honest (and considering he's almost 40 that's pretty impressive). We might see him wrestle a few PPVs before WM28.

remember that for wrestling being a muscle heavy body builder doesn't necessarily mean you're in the best shape to do a match. Rock's friggin' HUGE now, but that also works against him since he can't move like he used to. due to both age and bulk, he can't bump or sell like he used to. and having not done it for years 'ring-rust' is an understatement. he's gotta move differently, hasn't really worked with anyone in the ring, etc. wouldn't put much faith in the fact that he's got more muscle as an indication to anything - easy to just look at guys like Jericho, Punk, Edge, HBK, Danielson, Cody, etc as "you don't need to be a musclebound freak to do a good match." ...and really, if that list is any indication it's probably better when you're not friggin' huge seeing how that makes me think of Batista, Lashley, and older HHH.

Just read a MitB fantasy booking from ex-writer John Piermarini that was pretty bad except for this gem which I think is a fairly decent idea. Paraphrasing here.

Miz wins Money in the Bank again, and then boasts about how successful he was the first time he cashed in the briefcase and won the title, but one thing still bothers him--he still remembers how overshadowed he was at Wrestlemania by The Rock and John Cena, despite Miz being the man who walked out of Wrestlemania as the winner of the main event.

So this time things are gonna be different. This time, he plans on holding onto the briefcase until Wrestlemania, and then cashing in on whoever wins the WWE Championship match--even if that match happens to be The Rock vs. John Cena. And he hopes it is.

Let them see what it's like to have your spotlight stolen!

ehhh. there's a few things they can do here. first off, there's the issue of the Royal Rumble winner and the WM match. then there's Raw's MITB winner. either of these can really screw things up. figure though if you wanted to REALLY mess their match up in a straight and secure way, have the cash-in happen at the Royal Rumble for the title. and have 'em keep said title until WM.

....yeah honestly 'it's for the WWE Championship!" just is so bad of a stipulation that i don't know why they did that.

Of course the problem with that is that it completely undermines Rock vs. Cena if it actually played out that way, and Piermarini said he'd actually have it play out that way (Rock d. Cena, Miz cashes in and beats Rock). That's stupid.

I do like the idea of him CLAIMING he's going to do it though, and then seeing a golden opportunity come along earlier and let his impulse and Championship lust get the better of him, and then somehow be the first MitB failure.

Then he has to forever live with the idea that he had a guaranteed WM main event match against a weakened Cena or Rock for the title that he threw away because of his own greed.

And honestly the fact that they can basically decide that for themselves and WWE officials just play along is exactly the sort of thing Punk is upset about.

If Colt Cabana walked out on Raw next week and said he wanted to face John Cena at Summerslam, and oh by the way if Cena still happened to be Champ at that point the match would be for the title, he'd get laughed out of the locker room!

Rock has the exact same amount of wins in WWE as Colt does over the last 8 years, and yet he can get that sort of thing to go through. <_<

...although if they even mentioned one time that it's Rock's rematch clause after losing the title to Brock Lesnar at Summerslam 2002 I'd actually be so geeked about the continuity that I'd love it. <_<

Man, I'm pretty excited for MitB. Though the fact that both briefcases seem poised to be cashed in that night is still bugging me.

Given how they always say "if he leaves Chicago as WWE champion" and not "if CM Punk wins the WWE championship", I can't help but feel that the mitb winner will save Cena's job.

As for smackdown, "Christian wins then gets screwed again, this time by the mitb winner" just seems like logical progression for how they've been handling it. If that doesn't happen, they either

a) end the feud, which kinda renders the whole thing meaningless, as it renders all of christian's complaining moot or
b) this feud goes on ANOTHER month, which I am pretty sure even most Christian fans don't want to see at this point.

it's ridiculous that none of the MITB winners have waited until wrestlemania

punk seems like the most likely guy to do it, but his two cash-ins were either essential (stopping edge from taking raw's top belt off the show...wait a second) or led to an awesome angle (his feud with jeff hardy)

kennedy planned to do it, but we all remember how that worked out

you'd think somebody like miz or swagger would do it though

The thing with Smackdown is that Orton is the only high profile face really. So he's basically got to retain or Christian has to get screwed out of it because otherwise they have nowhere to go. And they've got Sheamus and Henry lurking in the background so unless we get a face MitB winner (which we all know isn't likely), Orton has to be in the title picture.

Christian wins (possibly by DQ or something)
Orton RKO/Punts him in a rage
Sheamus cashes in
Sheamus/Orton at Summerslam (possibly triple threat but unlikely)
Possibly Henry/Orton after that when Henry finishes his feud with Show giving them chance to build up another Face

And christ, Smackdown has like no faces at all. Where on earth does Christian even go from here. A feud with Sin Cara or Bryan or something?
