First season I had the best record (9-4) and far and away the best offense (277 runs, next closest was 218), won the WS 3-1.

Second season I went 10-6 (3rd best record), lost the WS 3-4 to ExTha. Game 7 was 6-4 for him. Ironically, I outscored him 25-24 that series, mostly due to my 2 shutout wins when I was down 3 games to 1. Alas, it was not to be.

3rd season was garbage, barely made the playoffs, then my closer blew 2 saves in the first 2 games to Chris in the BLDS. Then he beat me this year. Also, the 2nd season BLDS we had two extra innings games. We've only had one postseason game out of twelve where the lead was not within 2 runs after 9 innings were completed, and that was a 10-7 win by me this year. Hell, I think even most of our regular season games have been that close. So you can see why we're not fans of one another.

Congrats to the Bearorists, Board 8 Baseball Season 4 Champions.

Season 5 signup topic will go up on Wednesday or Thursday. We will be using MLB Bobblehead Pros (XBLA). Heads up, it is the same people as Power Pros, so don't expect many walks.

A few changes: No commentary, you only get to change you roster every 3 games so I can try to get out more per week and such. I had one or two other things, but I forget.

So far, I believe our confirmed returning managers are Chris, KCF, Darunia, Dp, War, Extha. I still have to talk to the others. voltch will be getting a managing spot.

Please head on over to the baseball board to check the rosters that come with the october roster update. Many players are missing. I'll be happy to edit in any important players if suggested in the next few days, but when I close those topics I will be making no further additions.

Mostly! Darunia read up, and Extha commentated, and Mega Mana watched a game or two, but overall nobody keeps up after they're eliminated (or even before then oftentimes!)

I never knew about this before Alec posted a topic for sign-ups. I was on the fence about joining not because of a lack of interest and knowledge in baseball and management, those are unquestionably high, but because I anticipated not being available a lot from then on. The combination of Alec's coaxing and the fact that we were using not only my favorite baseball game ever, MVP Baseball, but a game in my Top 10 video games were enough to bring me on board.

I felt very confident about my chances because I felt that my vast experience of MVP Baseball 2005 would go a long way. This has been brought up a lot between Extha and voltch but if I have not put in 1000 hours into the game, then I am awfully close.

By using an assumption that playing a game takes 30 minutes, then we have this:

1. Dynasty Mode (file 1 with White Sox):
- Currently in 7th season (like 40 games in)
- Played every MLB game, no minor league, no spring training outside of mini-games, plus made it to the WS each season (minimum of 173 games played a season)
- Add 20 hours, may honestly be underestimating that figure, a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently

2. Dynasty Mode (file 2 with Devil Rays)
- Currently in 3rd season (yet to start)
- Played in every MLB game, no minor league, so spring training outside of mini-games, played in the ALCS first season, WS second season (minimum of 169 for 1st season, 173 for 2nd)
- Add 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently

3. Dynasty Mode (file 3 with Braves)
- Currently in 6th season (around 120 games in)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently

4. Dynasty Mode (file 4 with Angels)
- Currently in 3rd season (yet to start)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently

5. Owner's Mode (file 1 with White Sox)
- Currently in 4th season (yet to start)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently

6. Owner's Mode (file 2 with Reds)
- Currently in 2nd season (yet to start)
- Sim only
- 20 hours a season for management-related tasks and looking at stats frequently

Do the math and you get projected playing time, including prorated White Sox's 7th and Braves' 6th season, of nearly 1100 hours, which excludes time spent with friends, online exhibition, online leagues, observing games, and just tinkering around with how I play the game. I could easily have 1250 hours on this, which may not even be as much as I played Halo 2, but that's irrelevant.

Btw, I don't think experience with MVP baseball mattered at all. You and ExTha, the supposed "pros" at this game, were 2 of the weaker-midpack teams.

I still hold that you just got incredibly lucky. It happens. As I keep reiterating, there is no hot streak. It's game to game, literally, and you managed to eke out enough wins.

I remember would sometimes sim Avs-Red Wings games in NHL 2004, and the Wings clearly had a better team but my Avs only lost one or two times in the probably 8 or so times I simmed them.

I was telling Alec it would be awesome as **** if there was an online browser game we could use where you and someone else could just manage two teams in real time. Because that's another thing, you can't tell your pitcher not to IBB a guy, or control pinch hitting, or anything, and that greatly influences the outcome.

I was either asked or told that JDizzy would be a co-manager with me. I remembered JDizzy only from a few topics and that he was both nice and a competitive dancer. I didn't know about what he knew baseball. I personally put a high priority, based on my experience with the game, on starting pitching, speed on both the basepaths and outfield, and defense.

However, I was willing to make sacrifices to accommodate my co-manager. Leading up to the draft and into it though, I was unable to connect with JDizzy on AIM. With time pressure by the other managers, I had to make a decision on my own and I decided to go after a SP. My criteria was that he had to be durable, have high stamina (regularly go 7+ innings), and generally have a good K/Walk ratio. King Felix fit that bid.

My lack of communication continued, despite my repeated attempts and I kept drafting in accordance to what I felt the game valued. It wasn't until the 6th inning that I got a hold of JDizzy and we discussed about what to do in the 6th round. We decided to fill out our rotation with Matt Cain, who surprisingly was the first player that we drafted and kept that actually was a major, positive contributor to our club.

It was after my 7th round selection of Brandon Phillips that set up the trade that may have been eclipsed by Chris' trade of Pujols in terms of scale, but had far more impact than any other in the league
