Welcome to Season 4 of Board 8 Baseball! Approaching the halfway point of the season, everybody still has a solid shot at making the playoffs. Will the Manny Ramirezes defend their World Series title, or will a new challenger prevail?
~~~How it works~~~ -There will be 6 games per "week" (1 per team, no days off) for 16 weeks. Note, weeks are not necessarily corresponding to real weeks. Videos of the games will be posted, followed by box scores.
-You can change your roster at any time between games as long as you post in this topic, email me at [email protected], IM me, or in some other way let me know. You can switch up your rotation, change your lineup, add or drop players, etc
-TRADING is welcome until the deadline after Week 12. Trades may be overturned by a 50% veto vote.
-You can add/drop any of your players at any time until the FREE AGENT DEADLINE before Week 15. However, if you drop a player, you can not pick them up until your team has played two more games. So if you dump somebody after Week 5, you can't pick them up again until before Week 8.
-Playoff structure will be top 4 teams per division. One-game playoffs will decide any ties that determine a playoff berth.
-There will be an All Star Game, with players voted on by fans/managers/whatever.
-EACH WEEK we will pick TWO WEEKLY MVPs. One pitcher, one position player. You can vote for your own players.
-INJURIES: If a player is injured in a game, he will be out 4 games. As in he misses the 4 games AFTER their injury. If injured in Week 5, the player can not be activated until before Week 10.
-Commentators wanted! Just let me know if you'd like to commentate at any poitn.
-Roster updates are due each Tuesday at 9 PM EST.
That should be all. If you have any other questions, please ask, and they will hopefully be promptly answered.
In case you did not see it in the last topic, I have a new change to my lineup against RHPs with Ethier out
1. E. Andrus (SS) 2. B. Phillips (2B) 3. C. Gonzalez (LF) 4. A. LaRoche (1B) 5. M. Wieters (C) 6. A. Jones (RF) 7. C. McGehee (DH) 8. P. Polanco (3B) 9. B. Upton (CF)
I just need to send them out and do commentary. Depending on schedules, a few days?
Sorry that it's takin g so long these days, I've had barely any time outside of work and other obligations. Hopefully it'll go faster come LCS but we'll find out...
There's no reason to be sorry, I'm Just wondering, Not trying to rush you, since I dont know if I'd ever take the time that you have to do this :P ---
Failed to capitalize on so many good innings.. I was just praying we didn't f*** up on defense too. Great game from Kershaw. Sucks that Ortiz is out. Umm.. Try Raul Ibanez in his place I guess and move him back to 7th in the lineup.
So...
1st in season 1.. 2nd in season 2... 5-8th in season 3.. but top 4 guaranteed this season. My boys are back on track for excellence. Anybody else made the LCS 3 times?
New leadoff hitter. Michael Young back in the order really gives me a lot more flexibility for my lineup. Also, Aramis Ramirez quietly hit safely in every game, so I got a bit more confidence in him now making the lineup a bit better all the way up and down. Lets get em, boys.
Lineup vs RHP
1. CF D Young 2. C McCann 3. SS M Young 4. DH Morales 5. LF Ordonez 6. 1B Teixeira 7. 3B Ramirez 8. RF Berkman 9. 2B Figgins
Lineup vs LHP
1. LF D Young 2. CF Victorino 3. SS M Young 4. DH Morales 5. RF Ordonez 6. 1B Teixeira 7. 3B Ramirez 8. C McCann 9. 2B Hill
Probables: Game 1: Tim Lincecum Game 2: RA Dickey Game 3: Jon Lester
I am so disappointed the third DMG/WW game doesn't have commentary.
The fifth inning NEEDS five straight minutes of ExTha laughing his ass off.
EDIT: Oh my god. OH MY GOD! If there was any game in the LDS that needed commentary... it would be the last game of SM/TUL. BUT if there wasa second game that needed commentary, DMG/WW Game 3. Holy crap! (just hit bottom of the eighth)
"Oh my God MWIS. I just really want to ask, if this is a SMALL CYOA.... what in the name of holy blue christ is a big one?!" - ExTha
So, you know, if you want to replace that joke of a game with the real thing, I'd like that. That would be a wonderful thing.
Oh, did you say that was the real game? That can't be right. The real game would have this lineup as seen in post four of this topic dated 24 hours before you said they were recorded, and even longer that considering they were in the previous almost-purged topic.
Mega Mana posted... See KCF. I'm sure you've seen it, but just in case 500 purges everything.
NEW LINEUP vRHP
R. Theriot (SS) K. Youkilis (3B) J. Mauer (C) D. Lee (1B) J. Thome (DH) R. Braun (LF) T. Hunter (CF) M. Prado (2B) A. Rios (RF)
So, that joke of a match definitely could not have been the real one.
This poster notes the game was lost almost entirely on walks alone and it is no fault of the batting order.
What an awful series; I'm definitely not watching those games again to give it stats. No ****ing way.
Game 1's practically unwatchable. Literally. The first part is 43 minutes of start-and-stop slow-motion glitchy video. Both Game 3 & 4 I recall being won by some errors, non-errors, or very terrible defensive play. I know for both Chris' win and my win I was very disgusted. SM/TUL Game 4's thing was startingly hilarious, but it was just groanworthy in both our games. Game 5 has the wrong lineup and is just... augh. I left after Theriot got caught stealing so I didn't stick around to see how many walks were given (my guess is 24 total). Game 5 probably has the ****iest pitching, by both sides, in all of the season. And this is coming from the guy who had J. Weaver, the ******* who gave up like 6-8 runs before the end of the second inning in BOTH of his starts. What a horrid, horrid game.
I thought a few of the earlier games in the other three series were bad, but they were just boring. We had four legitimately bad games with easily the worst one of all.
Good luck to Chris and Darunia in next playoffs. I will not be doing stats or webgem watching for them because **** the thirty or so hours I invested as hype leading up to our showdown.
Something something Lost something Worse than Kate episodes.
