Thanks for running the contest, Junk! You rock, bro.

What did you think of the contest’s winner?

I still don't like Magneto as much as most people, but X-Men: First Class gave me a newfound appreciation for the character. I can live with it.

How did your favorite(s) fair?

My favorite in the top ten was Charlie Brown... yeah. >___> Many of my overall favorites did better than expected, though. I was glad to see Michael Bluth receive a lot of love, as well as Roger Rabbit and The Black Knight; though Tallahassee being booted Day 1 is a joke!

Was the Top Ten decent?

Scar shouldn't have been anywhere near the Top Ten, and Vegeta was kind of a silly choice. Other than that, I have no real objections - it's pretty solid!

Is there anything you might change about the contest for future reference?

Nothing I can think of off-hand. This was a really good contest.

I'm curious how Han Solo would have done if I'd saved him instead of Hermione the previous round. I figured one Harry Potter character and one Star Wars character would provide more diversity than two Star Wars.

If I had to guess, I think he'd end up in the middle of the pack just as Hermione did, but as well as Obi-Wan performed, he might have done a bit better..

Haha. Han Solo was in my top 5 favorite characters in the whole contest. It was a sad day for me when he went down. I would like to think he could beat Obi Wan one-on-one. But who knows how he would have fared? I'd guess top 3.

What did you think of the contest’s winner? Magneto is awesome

How did your favorite(s) fair? terrible. Most my noms were wiped out early and my other favs seldom made it more than a couple of rounds. With the exception of Magneto of course.

Was the Top Ten decent? Yeah, it was a solid group of all good characters.

Is there anything you might change about the contest for future reference? I don't know. Maybe check and see which style is best for each round. The Round Robin final round was a great idea though.

What did you think of the contest’s winner?
Can't complain. He's a good character. Very surprised he won and he's not really a "favorite" but I'm alright Magneto winning.

How did your favorite(s) fair?
Split. I don't think Yuri Lowell, Yuri Hyuga, Zuko, Omar Little, Lelouch, Kenshin, Jules Winnfield and Tommy Oliver got out of the first few rounds. Snape, Tom, Wile E Coyote, Scar and Malcolm Reynolds all did very well. I can't remember how Spiderman or Knuckles did =/ I got a lot of favourites >_>

Was the Top Ten decent?
Meh. As much as I like Charlie Brown, he shouldn't of gotten that far. And anime characters like Onizuka and Kenshin going out early (Onizuka got something like -40 in the first round I think =/) while f***ing Vegeta gets to the final 10. He's alright but should have been no With the exception of Nintendo, the contest seemed very anti-Japan.

Is there anything you might change about the contest for future reference?
I liked how all rounds were different =) I would have much preferred the "Save My" round be the final round though instead of the 1 vs 1 round.

If it isn't too much to ask would you put the results on the B8 wiki? Someday I would like to go over the results again =)

What did you think of the contest’s winner?
If it wasn't going to be Vegeta or Scar out of the top ten, I'm glad it was Magneto. A fine winner.

How did your favorite(s) fair?
Well, the only character I nom'd in, Bryan Mills, did horrible (Doesn't help his voting day was the ONLY one I missed), but Vegeta and Scar getting as far as they did kicked major ass, and characters like Luigi getting as high as they did is good to. Overall pretty good, I guess.

Was the Top Ten decent?
The only two characters I didn't like in it are Batman (who I think is THE most overrated anything on the face of the planet), and Hermoine (Who I definitely think is the worst major HP character). Otherwise it was pretty damn good.

Is there anything you might change about the contest for future reference?
Not really, no.

6th Place Vegeta

"We have blood flowing through our veins, the blood of a warrior race."

"The sleeper has awakened. I am the Prince of all Saiyans once again!"

"Aww what’s the matter? You’re the one who started this game. Now you’re losing and you don’t want to play any more."

"Then something happened inside of me. I didn’t care anymore. I didn’t care about being better than Kakarott. I didn’t care about being a Super Saiyan. I didn’t even care if I lived or not. I didn’t care about anything…and that’s when it happened.""

He is an antihero in the Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama. Vegeta was originally a dangerous enemy who sought to use the Dragon Balls to gain immortality, but later became an anti-hero as even greater threats were introduced in the series. Vegeta is a member of the royal Saiyan lineage, the extraterrestrial race that the series' main protogonist is from. Even though Vegeta is viewed as a dangerous enemy to Goku for the beginning of the series, he later becomes an ally to Goku and assists in the defeat of powerful enemies such as Cell and Majin Buu.

Alright. Well I've run out of things to post to get this topic to 500 (which would be my first ever of the sort). So, what I've decided to do, since I have not been able to provide my opinion this whole contest, is to post my top fifty characters entered in this tournament.

I will post in them in large chucks at a time, starting with the first 20. I doubt my opinion is shared by many, but hey, that's not what I want from this anyways.

Alright the first 20 of my top 50 are as follows:

30. Peter Pan (Disney)
31. Deadpool (Marvel Comics)
32. Heie (YuYuHakusho)
33. Doctor Strange (Marvel Comics)
34. Dale Gribble (King of the Hill)
35. Severus Snape (Harry Potter)
36. Magneto (Marvel Comics)
37. Darth Vader (Star Wars)
38. Gandalf (The Lord of the Rings)
39. Woody (Toy Story)
40. Tyler Durden (Fight Club)
41. Simba (Lion King)
42. Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters)
43. The Terminator (The Terminator)
44. Nightcrawler (Marvel Comics)
45. Charlie Kelly (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia)
46. Ike Greil (FE: PoR)
47. Tallahassee (Zombieland)
48. Quagmire (Family Guy)
49. Tom (Tom & Jerry)
50. Lloyd Christmas (Dumb and Dumber)

The rest will come periodically.

23. Perry Cox (Scrubs)
24. Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones)
25. Forrest Gump (Forrest Gump)
26. Leonardo (TMNT)
27. Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)
28. Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)
29. Dr. Emmet Brown (Back to the Future)

The rest will have small write ups accompanying them!

19. Al Bundy (Married with Children)

external image

“Envy me. That's my wife. Those are my kids and I sell womens' shoes.”

Grew up watching this man from Polk High with my basic cable. Did you know he had four touchdowns in one game?! Al was a detestable character that was made likeable by his funny comments and losing tradition. He constantly bad mouthed women, politics, environmentalist, fat people, and love. His many insults to Peggy and Marshy were all classics that are still useable today. Stuff like (to Peggy), "I wouldn't rub your feet even a genie came out of them."

I always wished he would find a way to come out on top just once. Poor guy.

18. Squall Leonhart (FFVIII)

external image

It’s funny, I played VII first, then IX, then 1 thru 6, followed by X and XII…then I finally got around to playing VIII, and I freaking loved it! The drawing magic system sucked at first until I got familiar with it. Only complaint is the game became pretty easy after mastering said system.

Not my favorite FF game, but this is my favorite FF character. I usually don't buy into "emo" leads but this guy caught me hook, line, and sinker. The gunblade was awesome, his attitude was awesome, and the final cut scene was one of the best I've seen.

17. John McClane (Die Hard)

external image

"Yippie-ki-yay motherf**ker"!

ALL of these movies were great in their own way. That can't be said about a lot of action movie franchises. John is a bona fide badass. He has had me munching popcorn since high school. He is my favorite action movie character of all time, though Arnold has the set of most my favorite action films.

16. Bender (Futurama)
external image

"They're not very heavy, but you don't hear me not complaning."

"Do I preach to you while you're lying stoned in the gutter? No."

"Ahhh, what an awful dream. Ones and zeroes everywhere... and I thought I saw a two."

Bender is hilarious. I like foul mouthed, perverse, pessimistic comedy and he has it all. He’s a stogie smoking, Botwesier drinking bag of insults and laughs. Even if you hate the show, you have to respect the nature of Bender and the hilarity of his antics. His type of comedy just hits home for me.

15. Norman Osborne (Marvel Comics)

external image

external image

“What can I say? I've saved the best for last. Tonight I'm going to kill the Amazing Spider-Man”

This guy is my favorite villain in the Marvel universe. Second would be Dr. Doom. Nonetheless, Norman secretly and single handedly was the mastermind behind like 60% of all Spiderman plots stemming from the 90’s and early 2000’s. The Green Goblin was a terror. I specifically remember reading front to back (multiple times) the comic where he is murdered right before the Spiderman re-launch. It was the end of an era. But Norman is back nowadays and leading the Dark Avengers the last I heard. Though that was a while back.

14. Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)

external image

external image

“You shouldn't talk, it makes you sound stupid...”

Barring one other show, this was my favorite anime while growing up. I never delved too deep into the anime world (although this contest got me to watch Deathnote), but this show always stuck out for me. It seemed to have a few technical issues with production (especially the last season) but I still liked it for what it was.
Yusuke, he made an awesome hero. The spirit gun was always the best attack. Next to him, Heie was the best, followed by Kuwabara. Yusuke never got old to watch though. Him and his show were quality entertainment for my young mind.

13. Eric Cartman (South Park)

external image

external image

"And everyone lived happily ever after...except for Kyle who died of AIDS two weeks later."

Cartman is a great example of someone you love to hate. Miles worse and more crude than Bender could even dream of being, Eric has a special place in the comedy section of my heart. There is an endless list of what this kid hates, but most all of it deals with left wing politics. He is the ultimate troll and was trolling before trolling was cool.

12. Spiderman (Marvel Comics)

external image

“Not everyone is meant to make a difference. But for me, the choice to lead an ordinary life is no longer an option.”

The 2nd best superhero in my mind (#1 to come later…). He has an awesome array of powers that most underestimate. Wall crawling, strength, agility, webbing, and most useful of all, his spider sense. Secretly a genius in disguise, Spiderman also has quite the funny bone. He terrorizes villains with his mouth while he fights them with his fists. The 3rd movie was a freaking disappointment, but the new movie looks much better.

11. Butters Stotch (South Park)

external image

“Well, thanks for offering to let me in your clique, guys, but, to be honest, I'd rather be a crying little pu*** than a fa*** Goth kid.”

Yeah, I like South Park. Butters has some of these most memorable moments in history on that show. I had a friend in grade school just like this guy (literally, he even pulled his pants all the way down to pee). He’s not dimwitted, but just innocent beyond belief and always manages to find trouble way over his head. Easily lovable.

10. Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z)

*Pics and quotes can be found above.

*Spoilers*

This guy. He was my highest finishing favorite…and I never expected him to be. He’s smarmy and can kick some butt (which may be a running theme in my top 50 here). Even after he turned good he stayed true to his bad attitude colors. He had the best dialogue in the show as well. His speech to Goku before dying in the Frieza saga was potent stuff. Glad he made the Saiyan race proud and performed well in this contest.

9. Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski (The Big Labowski)

external image

“That rug really tied the room together.”

Big Labowski is my second favorite comedy film with my favorite comedic character of film. The Dude is a walking encyclopedia of down to earth quotes. It also helps that I love White Russians. This film was a masterpiece. See it if you want a good laugh.

8. Thor (Marvel Comics)

external image

“We are gods, 'tis our purpose to set aright the path of lesser beings.”

Here he is. My favorite Marvel character of all time. Not who some of you expected I’m sure. Honestly, I can’t explain my liking for Thor. He is just someone I became attached to as a kid. One day, when I was young, someone asked me which hero I would most like to be. I thought about the whole night and came up with the decision of Thor. He is basically immortal, strongest of the Asgardians, invulnerable to most attacks, extremely heightened senses, regeneration, flight, dimensional travel, The God Blast, The Thermo Blast, The Anti Force Blast, can summon lightning, rain, wind and snow, has superhuman speed, agility, and reflexes. This guy is always in control. Especially after taking over Odin's throne. That’s the hero I’d want to be. No doubt.

The movie was ok. It was better than I expected anyways, and a lot better than some other Marvel movies.

7. The Rock (Pro Wrestling)

external image

“The Rock will take you down Know Your Role Boulevard which is on the corner of Jabroni Drive and check you directly into the Smackdown Hotel!”

I like to think I watched wrestling in its prime. I started with WCW about 4 months before the NWO was formed. I switched from WCW to WWF about 1 month after Goldberg’s win streak ended. The reason? This man. He was the wittiest and best wrestler I had ever seen. WWF during its Attitude era was pure gold. The Rock was allowed to say anything he wanted and didn’t have to deal with the PG rating that wrestling has nowadays (a la Cena). He has too many memorable moments to go through but I‘ll leave a link with one of my favorites.

6. Randy Marsh (South Park)

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JXqCYbEj_cQ/TZzeqhjOAdI/AAAAAAAACSk/S5ANWMt5Oog/s400/500full.jpeg

Stan: "Dad, I like being in a boy band. I think it's interesting."
Randy Marsh: "Well, there's plenty of interesting things you can do. Have you ever tried marijuana?"

The last, and best, South Park character on my list. He didn’t really shine though in the show until Season 4 or so, but once Trey and Matt gave him a chance to in the spotlight he took the show to whole new dimension of funny. Any episode that has Randy in the center is a good episode for me. Here’s a montage:

5. Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother)

external image

“Challenge accepted.”

More funny people. If a character makes me laugh then I tend to like them. Barney Stinson qualifies in that category. He is one of the best written characters on television today. In the end, I hope he ends with Robin but am pretty sure he’ll have Nora. Great show and great character.

For those of you not familiar with Barney, here is his video resume:

4. Tyrion Lannister (A Song of Ice and Fire)

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=75264

“All dwarves are bastards in their father's eyes.”

Tyrion does not have my favorite plotline in the series (that honor belongs, and has always belonged to Jon Snow) but he IS my favorite character. I’ll admit I started reading the fantasy novels only after I watched the first two episodes of Game of Thrones on HBO, but man am I glad I finished book one before season one ended and continued on with the series. It was a thrilling read and Tyrion made the story both funny, tear jerking, and vengeful. He is a grade A character. He is also possibly one of the greatest written characters in fictional history.

3. Dexter Morgan (Dexter)

external image

“Blood. Sometimes it sets my teeth on edge, other times it helps me control the chaos.”

I started watching Dexter on the suggestion of my girlfriend and came in not knowing what really to expect. What a great decision that turned out to be! Dexter is a killer of killers, an insane man with a glimpse of sanity. He is one of the most interesting characters I have ever watched on television. The John Lithgow season remains my favorite season by far. There’s not too much about this show that isn’t entertaining.

2. Han Solo (Star Wars)

external image

“Never tell me the odds!”

Han Solo is my favorite Star Wars character. He actually did very well in the tournament and lost out in the Save My round barely to Obi Wan. I was pulling for him the whole way. Screw a bunch of Jedi, Han and Chewy made the 4th, 5th, and 6th episodes worth it to me. Loved them and glad he ended up with the girl in the end!

1. Solid Snake (Metal Gear)

"Unfortunately, killing is one of those things that gets easier every time you do it."

"It's easy to forget what a sin is in the middle of a battlefield."

My number one character of all time! It should be no surprise to anyone who follows my posts that this guy finishes at the top. The MGS series is the best series of games in history to me. They provide quality entertainment with an engorging storyline and dramatic boss fights. Everything about this game screams awesome. I love RPG’s but this game tops all of them and then some. Solid Snake is the best all around and most developed character to hit gaming in my lifetime.

And, well...that's all folks.

I don't have much more to say.

There are two characters I thought of late in the tournament that I wished would have had a chance to represent. Those are Captain Planet and Walter White (Breaking Bad). I've come to really like Breaking Bad but I only started watching just as the tournament started. Other than that, I'd say maybe a few more advertising characters would be suitable like Ronald McDonald or The Man You Wish You're Man Smelled Like.

If I ever do another one of these they will definitely be in it. Also, nominations will be more open and last for a longer time. Once again, thanks for the opportunity to do this tournament Board 8.

Whoever wants to fill up the final posts, please feel free to do so!

And the best part is, he was totally in this contest. Even if you didn't see him.

He was romantically stalking this contest, hiding in this contest's room as it slept in order to "watch over it". Lawl!
