I tried it for ten minutes.

It feels like any other browser except tabs are stacked vertically on the left side, there's no address bar or really... *any* bar at the top at all, and if you want to search you have to open a new tab which is easy (either click "new tab" in the tab bar or press CTRL + T like any other browser, except when you're used to browsing using an address bar it is ... weird).

Besides that, really not seeing what all the hype was about. It feels like any other Chromium-based browser just with a lot more real estate for websites because of the missing toolbars at the top.

And apparently there are no bookmarks.

The only chromium browser you should use is Edge

you shouldnt be using anything except Firefox

In my case, it's because I lived at home and my mum used the PC too, so I kept her account/passwords/etc on Firefox and mine on Edge, as Firefox didn't let you have two separate accounts on the same browser

I'm not very techy. A techy friend told me in 2006 that you should just use Firefox.

Followed her advice ever since.

You don't need Edge. Firefox allows mutiple accounts.

Firefox is my main browser but every once in a while I jump back on the Vivaldi train.

I just really like trying out different browsers >_> I think I have seamonkey installed still but that's pure nostalgia only.

If other browsers could use my Google account, I'd leave Chrome.

Yeah their logo is "better is simpler" or something like that. Apparently there are two main ways to organize tabs - you have a Space, which is like a new window altogether with its own set of tabs, and then you have Folders in that space that you can store pages (so I guess that *is* like bookmarks, just in a different format), and then there are just the loose tabs themselves.

Also clicking on the URL at the top of the window does open up a search bar that you can use to... well, search or type in a new URL.

I do like the fact that you see more of the page but I think I can achieve the same with Vivaldi.

There is browser compartmentalization baked in to it, sort of like Container Tabs in Firefox. You can create a "New Profile" and assign profiles to different Spaces with different settings. So maybe one Space you keep tabs and stuff available for longer but another Profile/Space will reset when you close. And of course different Profiles = different active sessions on pages, different history, different saved cookies. It's not a bad set up I guess but I still kind of prefer how Firefox does it with the Container Tabs.

Within the Profile settings you have... a few Search options, you can change the default Download location, and there's a link to the expanded settings page that looks like a 100% copy of the Chrome settings pages.

There's also a new default search engine available - Perplexity - which I don't see as an option by default in Firefox or Vivaldi.

Also just got a new splash page from Vivaldi, they've updated even more stuff lol.

The transparency settings on the window are annoying as shit though. Just a weird contrast between the title bar and the tab section, which is like frosted glass, and a regular opaque website.

I prefer Firefox but it was always really slow on Streams and Youtube for me. Plus an extension I use for 4chan is buttcheeks on Firefox, it sucks compared to Chrome's.
Dunno why, Chrome isn't.

I'm struggling to see how this revolutionizes browsing, gonna keep using it.

ngl I just put tabs on vertical in Vivaldi and I have even more screen space than in Arc lol. And Vivaldi also supports different "Spaces" (known as Workspaces) so... still wondering what advantage Arc has.

also took all of two seconds to add Perplexity as a default search option in Vivaldi, and I'm sure in Fx it would also be rather simple...
