I'm a big 7 detractor, but Tifa is wonderful. She's demure compared to Aerith, which is completely at odds with their battle styles; she's understandably freaked out by memory buggery with her old relationships, and is one of the more grounded character designs in a game full of wtf... minus the smuggled basketballs, of course.

Lulu is the definition of lost potential. Here's this domineering figure with an interesting take on the Black Mage (both visually and not - before X, I would not have put "evasive" as a descriptor of the class.) She takes almost a parental role in explaining to Tidus the workings of Spira, yet her storyline comes to a crashing halt at the Calm Lands (sorta like the other pilgrimages she survived.) Her relationship and pregnancy between games was also lazy, much like the CGI motion designers when it came to the challenge thrust upon them.

I'm normally all for the bow and arrow archetype but Rosa can't decide between halfassing that and halfassing White Magic. Not great for a necessary party member. Her entire personality is "Damsel in Distress" in 4 that degrades into "Cecil... ..." in After Years.

Tifa - 7
She's cool. I like that she's an unarmed fighter and I actually liked the relationship between her and Cloud a bit (I guess some people dont like her keeping stuff from Cloud or something or maybe that was just to troll Vlado? I don't know)-- it may be my favorite canon ship in FF but that also kinda just speaks to how bad the canon pairings are. I would probably like her more if I played the remake.

Lulu - 5.5
Something about her really rubbed me the wrong way in my first playthrough. Replays had me realize "well, she's actually fine." If I were to guess I think just having her and Kimahri and Auron as half the crew sucked out too much energy from the room since they were all varying degrees of stoic badasses and Auron was the best at it by a lot. Lulu has some pretty funny moments chastising Tidus for being an obtuse buffoon but yeah I dunno. I really think Kimahri is what makes things excessive and Lulu is fine but that first impression is hard to get over.

Rosa - 1.5
Completely boring character who is a whole bunch of tell not show (like a lot of FFIV is, unfortunately). Yeah she and Cecil are involved I get that but I don't get why I should care about her or the relationship one bit. Whoo pixel smooching am I right.

Yeah, Lulu would probably be higher if she got more story and plot involvement. FFX is primarily Tidus and Yuna's story.

Tifa is one of my all-time favorite characters and very much my type.

Tifa's a lot of fun. Especially with Aerith. The two of them have a nice solid friendship, and i feel like female/female friendships in Final Fantasy is a bit underexplored. I guess FFX-2 kind of does.

I like Lulu quite a bit. She's got snark, and more belts than a belt store. Plus a pretty cool weapon.

Love Rosa. I know most people don't, but she's a fantastic party member and a lot of her story is unspoken. Plus I love that she breaks the mold of white mages being weak physical attackers. Also Cecil was STUPID for wanting to leave her and Rydia behind. The woman crossed a desert by herself to be with Cecil. And then stowed away on a spaceship.

i feel like I may have overrated tifa a wee bit but it cannot be understated how much i love the subversive character designs of the first four ff7 party members (especially her and aerith)

lulu and rosa are both a bit weak in the personality and story, but they both have enough "cool" and "cute" points to rank this high.
