I couldn't find a collection of the comics in order, but I found bits and pieces of different panels. Looks like initially they wanted to scrub the black Yoshi clean because they thought he had gotten dirty from idiots causing an oil spill. They thought they were being helpful. But then they turned racist when they realized he's actually black.
