afaik it was only tested with one virus. but my first thought when reading this was that we might be able to use these things to fight 'em off for us

It's less defending viruses and more expressing a reasonable concern about unintended consequences of using this willy nilly as an antiviral. The human body is rather delicately balanced, throw something too far out of wack and well, you die.
