there's this album i used to listen to that just doesn't exist anywhere anymore. i might have it downloaded on some old laptop still but every once in a while i search for it and just come up empty.
it's called the lighthouse, the giant by the badger king so if you know where to find it legally please lmk

All of it. It sucks so many artists visions/pieces of their souls were lost to the sands of time.

The biggest one I see is YouTube vids. If you really like something, yeah, download it.

I don't think most people think of books and manuscripts as media. I think of videos and music. And I read a lot of books.

2000s Skinimax shows. Little me used to sneak downstairs to watch all manner of softcore goodness. Can't seem to find them anywhere now.

Do mobile/web games count as lost media?
There's a handful of Facebook games including a cute chocobo game I miss.
The KH mobile game shut down, but is fairly well documented. Same for Mobius FF. FFRK is on its way out globally :(

Like 98% of those are archived, either through Flashpoint or in Newgrounds themselves. All the animations are mp4s now and the games run through ruffle, a flash emulator. But ruffle still isnt perfect tho.

Paramount+ has all of the episodes for Legends of the Hidden Temple and hundreds of Double Dare episodes. No Figure It Out, though.

Off the top of my head (because I was just thinking about it), there was a blog site or something where I guy documented his attempts to recruit a Liquid Metal Slime in Dragon Quest V. It doesn't seem to exist anymore. If it's archived anywhere, it seems impossible to find without knowing the link.

Arguably though, every GameFAQs post/thread that was deleted before threads could archive is lost media. And on boards that still don't. Of course there are some that are documented, but there's a lot of history that is no more.

Some random mario flash animation I saw in like the mid 2000s. All I remember was it had The Final Countdown in it and Mario and or Luigi were fighting in the air in front of a mountain. Never came across it again, so I presume ot's lost.

Sadao Yamanaka made some two dozen films before the age of 30, and died of dysentery in World War II. He was probably the greatest director of his generation, period, but we'll never quite know because only three of those films exist and he died before he was 30. The three films that survive are all absolute masterpieces. I don't know any of the names of the lost movies but I'm devastated at each of them.

Do books count as media? Homer wrote other installments of his Epic or whatever its called, of which includes The Iliad and The Odyssey. The rest of the series was lost and nobody even knows the plots of those installments . It would be interesting to find out what they were like

Lost media is an interesting subject to me. There's a lot of lost art, films, TV shows, and books out there that we're never going to see. There was a life before Youtube, zoomer!

No nostalgia can overcome curiosity about ancient stuff that nobody even knows about

If someone offered to magically resurrect every lost Dr Who episode, or to materialize brand new manuscripts of the lost Homer Epics, I'd pick the Epics.

There are still people alive today who saw those Dr Who episodes. Nobody alive knows the Homer Epics. The last person who knew their contents died thousands of years ago. It's a historical mystery
