And that's not even counting the countless random fans. But those were also the days you could just head to another territory or change your name to fall off the radar when you got in trouble for something. (Meaning that a Joey Ryan would get away with his shit, although the actual Joey Ryan would never have been able to get into the business (given he's too damn small and no wrestler who wanted to stay a wrestler back then would've gone along with a gimmick like that) and likely had both of his legs broken for trying.)

Nowadays wrestlers sit in their rooms playing videogames and sometimes get in trouble for their relationships (or attempts to have relationships) with other people in the business. Very different culture.

Because most of the wrestlers from back in the day (and other people in the business) have freely admitted to it. Look up the term "ring rats". Or wrestler paternity suits.

It's the old traveling salesman cliche - when you're constantly in a different city every night, and you spend more time on the road than at home, it's incredibly easy to cheat. If you're charismatic enough, you can have girlfriends in every town. If you're really charismatic, you can have families in different towns (Rocky Johnson himself actually did this for a while, before he divorced his first wife). It was a lot harder to get caught back in the days before cell phone cameras and the Internet. And when the wrestling business was less "business" and more "carny bullshit".

It also used to be a saying among wrestlers that if you were dating or married you should never bring your girl around to meet other wrestlers, because they would try to fuck her. And in most cases where a wrestler ignored that advice, that's pretty much exactly what happened.
