I mean, this seems to me to be more WB than Rowling, anyhow, and could potentially be a better treatment of the Potter world than the Cursed Child ended up being. Or the Fantastic Beasts films. I'd rather see a Youtuber or Twitch Streamer show off the first few hours of the game than this video, though; also maybe catch the ending to see if a prediction of mine is anywhere near right.

Sterling is sometimes valid in what he says but has recently become more and more obnoxious with his thoughts and opinions so I've stopped giving the shits I ever did. Fair enough though I suppose.

Avalanche are pretty good devs.

Just Cause has always been fun. Even if the games aren't great, they've always had a satisfying gameplay loop. That Mad Max game from a few years back was pretty solid despite its flaws.

I'm thinking at worst that Hogwarts will be overall mediocre with fun, engaging gameplay, but it has the potential to be better. Time will tell.

I'm curious if this is going to be a Ubisoft style open world game or if it's something a bit more nuanced. The sheer volume of stuff in the presentation makes me think it'll probably end up the former.

The combat system definitely looks...different. it's like the player is completely stationary and countering and attacking. Almost like Ass Creed 1, which was not very engaging. But there could be a lot more to it, I'd really need to see more. I do wonder if hearing the protagonist shout spell names constantly will get annoying.

I don't think it's unreasonable to bring up Rowlings views when she's probably one of the most influential/outspoken transphobes in the world and this game will contribute significantly to Potter potentially becoming an omnipresent franchise for the next few decades.

isn't Fantastic Beasts 2 about fighting against a guy that would have absolutely stopped the Holocaust but is simultaneously characterized as the wizarding world's Hitler

rowling's themes have always had some issues (house elf slavery in the main series...) but it feels like things have escalated since deathly hallows

Legacy isn't a good word to put in a title.

I think about legacy hardware and also how I don't care about Harry Potter as much as I used to as a kid.

A lot, potentially, though I doubt there'd be wizard parkour. I'm more talking in the sense of having a map full of 1000 objectives, having 100 game mechanics that are all fully explored within the first two hours, and then just mindlessly completing checklists for the remainder of the playtime.

I don't think there's any indication that it's been included as a playable element.

There hasn't. I'm only speculating because Avalanche has included side content in their other open world titles. The fact they've built broom transportation into the game leaves the door open to the possibility they could've made a quidditch mini game

Tbh, I'd be a bit surprised if it wasn't included, though quidditch didn't really have much of a role in the movies from 3 onward, compared to the books, so I guess it depends on how much they're trying to evoke the movies compared to the books, their budget, etc.

... That's the year it was cancelled for the TWT, and they didn't even have the World Cup in the movie, just going to it and then leaving it. If you mean broom riding in general, then sure.

It is 4 but they don't have any of the actual game in the movie. Some lead up to it and we get team introductions but then it just cuts to after the match.

The bad taste started forming with the last book in high school, and reflecting on the series. With the movies, it was even worse.
