There is a big "floaty" thing on my eye, you know, those floatie things I figure are normal but this is a giant one in the middle of my vision. Its a perfect circle. and everything in that circle is discolored, Blue comes out green for example

has anyone heard of something like this happening?

I am not making this topic to get diagnosed, but more to vent. This is scary. This could be nothing, idk, but this could be something too. the possibility of losing one's vision. IDK man. it has me really worried. That is so unbelievably gigantic to lose vision, your gateway into the world. I know you can life without it, but fuck would it suck to have it then get it taken away

I know I'm overreacting, especially not knowing whats up, As I said, I will look into visiting a professional soon.

I have been under alot of stress lately with it being the holidays, especially at work, I'm still working at the store. I made steps to leave but look at me, I'm still here. I think I may legit be getting too old for this kind of work. Maybe its starting to kill me IDK

so many things are racing through my mind right now

Id go to urgent care or call an optometrist stat, my dude.

I dont know for sure, but if its a detached retina you want to be soon as soon as possible.

Urgent care won't help, they'll just tell me to see a specialist anyways

but yea my phone is charging, I'll make an appointment soon

I HAVE had some migraines the past month but nothing like this ever happened. As I said, its scary

I don't want to scare myself further by looking on the internet haha

As someone who gets them, it COULD also be a particularly bad migraine aura, so take a short nap and if your vision is still wonky, then if it is call an optometrist.

it was like this since last night actually.
I was in my gameroom/office in my house in the dark looking at my computer and I just figured I looked at something too bright and it burned my vision

as I said, its a perfect circle so I don't think its actually that now

woke up this morning and it was still there

"FUCK" was my first word today

Does it move around your vision when you look around or is it always in the same place in your vision?

I have a small circle in my vision that stays in place. It's from where a small bleed caused liquid to pool leading to macular degeneration. Which caused the non moving "floater". But yours being large and suddenly appearing doesnt fit with macular degeneration at least

If it is moving then it might be liquid pooled that needs to be dealt with before it damages anything.

Either way you need to see an opthamologist or an optometrist asap

That's the issues I have. No idea how the migraine stuff works. So if it is that I cant help.

Yeahyou might want to call an optometrist immediately and get their opinion.

Shouldnt cost anything for them to tell you if its serious, but if its not a migraine its something you dont want to mess around on.

it definitely moves around when I look around. It behaves like a normal floaty, the difference is its changing the color within the circle. Also yea, MUCH bigger too

I have a blurry spot in one of my eyes, but it's not a floaty. They believe it's a retinal excavation.

If I notice anything new I try to get extra sleep or a nap and that helps.

Do you rub your eyes a lot? I've read that is the worst thing to do, so try to avoid that in general.

Hope it's nothing, I get freaked out from eye changes too.

yes I do rub my eyes alot actually. Maybe I damaged myself somehow

I remember there was a lasik topic some time ago and one of the things you can't do is rub your eyes and I could not imagine stopping that haha

I mean, I don't rub my eyes ALL of the time, but still, Its something I know I do

I get plenty of sleep I think, but I haven't slept at a normal time in ages. I get home and I get online or draw or watch something until its like 2am

Yeah that makes me think liquid pooling and the color change is because of light moving through the liquid or it blocking certain cones. Though we are obviously beyond my ability to do more than theorize.

Definitely get it checked out soon as you can.

to clarify

it is stationary relative to my line of vision

its always "in the middle" of my vision

if i move my eye all the way to the left, its still in the "middle" of my eye's sight, but not in the same spot. If I'm looking forward at a poster, the spot does not stay on the poster if I look away from it.

so thats what I mean it "moves"

I don't know if this is still stationary or not actually.

but its not "wandering" around on it's own.

in my experience, Floaties seem like they are moving around but its only because of your subtle eye movements, you try to look at them but thats why they appear to move around.

this is what I mean

Ok yeah that is what I mean by stationary. It is always in the same place in your field of vision (in this case center).

Liquid ones would actually continue moving a bit after you move your eye because they are literally floating around and need to settle. So their location in your field of vision can change.

In that case I definitely think you need to get it checked asap. Of course I have had horrible luck with eye issues so I'm always going to suggest playing it safe when it comes to your vision.

they want me to visit a doctor to get meds

Undoubtedly its been caused by work too, so my job is now killing me or blinding me

but my mother has High Blood Pressure to where she has to regularly take meds for it so now I'm thinking its in the family

I have a follow up where they will inject dye into my blood to get a better look at my eye

apparently one of the arteries is swollen.

if they need to they can take a laser to it

Sort of.

Although I think it doesnt actually become glaucoma until your optic nerve is actually damaged, high pressure fluid build-up that leads to nerve damage is like the primary symptom.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/glaucoma/symptoms-causes/syc-20372839

Im obviously not a doctor, but I did just get Lasik in June, and during my pre screening I got a consult on pre-glaucoma because my eye pressure read so high (it turned out I just have huge corneas, which affected the pressure reading).

Pretty sure it's not glaucoma based on what you described. You wouldn't see a fixed ring like that with glaucoma, your eye would be extremely painful (if you had an acute closed angle glaucoma attack), and your pupil would be fixed. Also they would have given you some eye drops and/or pills if it were that. Not quite sure what it is, but it's not that.

they determined my eye wasn't "spilling"

thats what the dye was meant to see

they gave me two options

one is to do nothing but regulate the blood pressure and see if it fixes it. Its not guarantee obviously

the second is to get it treated right then and there but the medication was 2k. JESUS

HOWEVER they had a Sample dose so it was free. God damn

however, there is a small chance I could go blind from it or develop glaucoma

I said screw it and went for it

but...they had to do 3 shots into my eye. JESUS FUCK BRO

and I did it. And I didn't go blind.

for now

if I get my eye dirty, it can cause an infection and then I can STILL go blind.
They said I can't be with pets....I have 7 pets >_>

In that cause they said i can wear and eyepatch. I'm Solid Snake Piissken Big Boss yall

my right eye is weaker but now its my only eye for now.

Its been scary today but I think things are starting to look up

I have a follow up next month

I legit think getting a shot to my eye was the scariest thing I've been through. I was shaking like crazy

th8ings aren't supposed to go in there!

also forgive any typoes, i'm partially blind rn

Yeah I have an eyepatch for after my injection as well. And all injections have a tiny chance of blindness and all that stuff but it is super tiny. Definitely not worth avoiding for.

I was also terrified before my first injection, it is just scary as shit. Now I've been getting them every 8-13 weeks for like 7 years so while it's annoying and super uncomfortable after it is no longer scary.

Definitely differences though. I get a single injection each time and then wear the patch for 4 hours. Then I have eye drops "as needed". I would hate the ointment more than the shot honestly. I have a soothing gel I can put under my eyelid after my injection but I never do because I hate using it.

Hopefully yours is one and done! And it's great that you were able to get the drug for free.

I'm not sure what you got but my Avastin injection is not instant. It would take a take and slowly get better. Usually I wouldnt notice any difference until I woke up the next day since it was very gradual.

My understanding is that it somehow causes the fluid to dry out.

Yeah for me it's just to keep me from touching my eye until the numbing fully wears off.
