Definitely not worth avoiding for. I was also terrified before my first injection, it is just scary as shit. Now I've been getting them every 8-13 weeks for like 7 years so while it's annoying and super uncomfortable after it is no longer scary. Definitely differences though. I get a single injection each time and then wear the patch for 4 hours. Then I have eye drops "as needed". I would hate the ointment more than the shot honestly. I have a soothing gel I can put under my eyelid after my injection but I never do because I hate using it. Hopefully yours is one and done!
