The more I think about this the more of a huge undertaking I think it will have to be.

I doubt they'll stick with the old combat but I think that's okay. I think the combat in the FFVII Remake would actually translate to KOTOR pretty well. Most powers and talents would translate over fine in a similar system. Or look at one of the Dragon Age games. I'm not really concerned about it as honestly I was never that attached to the combat.

I think the biggest hurdle is honestly the design of the planets. Most of the game is basically long hallways that link rooms together. I remember a lot of Force Speed and running to my next goal with not much happening. It's going to be hard to translate planets like Taris and Kashyyyk into something that feels both modern and faithful. At least a whole bunch of side quests that still hold up and are interesting.

I hope they take some risks with the party members too. Some of them just don't have much to do. If you do Mission's side quest on Tattooine early she basically has nothing to do or say for the rest of the game. So maybe add some more content for gaps like that. Maybe something like a side quest where Jolee trains her to use the Force. I think they should remove the skill checks for unlocking dialogue for characters like HK-47 and Canderous or at least make them an option.

Also some better robes and armor. Kinda dumb how the armor thats unlocked on the Star Forge looks nothing like Revan. That's the time to get a full blown Revan console. Darth Revan if you're Dark Side or a light side interpretation if you're on the Light Side.

It's a pretty big ask for a studio who hasn't done something like this before. No idea how it will turn out.

The ability to skip the first world if you really know what youre doing. Replay value in KotOR has always been hurt by the first level coming off as such a slog in subsequent runs. So, either add an option to skill it altogether & potentially miss out on some rare gear during new files after beating the game..... or, add a way to get off the planet in 1/10th the time by simplying knowing what to do. Huge fix. Its essential.

Kotor would be a nice place to experiment with 100% customizable HUD layout & behavior.....

You know? Some people wanna do it like this, some people want it like that. In different situations, you want different things to be happening with your menus. Menu customization in general would be a huge focus, because you seriously get so attached to it in Kotor and spend so much time there. Same with the importance of having the quickslot you want, and so on

Yeah I have no idea how they'll make the underwater sequence of Manaan interesting. That needs a complete overhaul.

Oh another change I just thought of.

The waiting area for the arena in Taris shouldn't just be a random room in the cantina. It should be its own elaborate place.

1 - Overhaul the world and character design. The original KotOR game was indistinguishable from the prequel trilogy, which takes place several thousand years later. Stick more closely with the "ancient future" aesthetic from the original Tales of the Jedi comics.

2 - Develop the characters a little more. I love the cast but they could stand to have a few more layers added to them. As is they're a bit one note.

3 - Better combat. Something like the FF7Remake looks cool kinda.

4 - Voiced Revan and a more "cinematic" feel to cutscenes and story sequences.

5 - Slot into current canon nicely. If not showing, hinting towards stuff like Exogel, the Dyad concept, or the stuff with the Mandalorians and the Darksaber would be pretty cool.

6 - Better dialogue and less black and white storytelling. Being able to play a dark sider who's not a Saturday morning cartoon villain would be nice. Likewise, Malak, dark Bastilla, and most of the Sith are incredibly one note. Flesh it all out a bit.

Change the combat (not sure what style I want out of it though tbh)
Expand on some of the companions, give them all more dialogue and companion quests like Mass Effect
Add an extra planet or two, just because you can
Add more nuanced choices to sidequests

That's about it, mostly just want additions, not changes

They could also simply add the option to respec whenever. Which means you can experiment with builds a bit more too.

Personally im fine with combat but i get not everyone likes the hidden dnd roll style of gameplay

Have alan tudyk voice HK-47. Kidding aside

Combat should be over hauled. If your using light sabers or vibroswords you attack using right analog stick and use the x triangle sqaure circle buttons as your main force powers you assigned

for blasters you shoot them like Call of duty style. But they overheat ala mass effect

I dunno if that will work. They'd have to animate the interactions differently. I doubt they'll stand around like statues like the old game.

Mass Effect has really raised the bar with this sort of stuff.

Manaan in general needs a ton of work. The security camera transition, the amount of loading zones to go from side to side, it's just sorta a mess and the worst part of replaying the game right now hands down. Fucking freaky fish folk.

Other than that, there's a few side quests that could use proper closure. It would be really cool to see a proper conclusion to those in the undercity finding the promised land or some sort of reprecussion/acknowledgement for the conclusion of the Genoharden quest line.
