You can do go with a long-term game and play shorter ones, too. People can play multiple games.

As for my queue, I'm honestly not sure I'll ever make any real headway on it >_>

I've probably picked up too much over too long a period and I'm not as much into gaming right now.

Whenever you get bored of a longer game, try picking 2-3 shorter ones to clear out before diving into another long one. You still won't be making particularly rapid progress on your backlog, but it'll at least feel like something, and being able to recognize games you have played will help you obsess less over just how many games you aren't playing.
