I think you're missing the point of what is being mocked.

The same people who talk about the "sanctity of Christian marriage" go about defiling it themselves according to their own standards. In reality, they can have whatever marriage they want, just like gay people. But they are often the ones claiming there is some "divine standard" to marriage.
