They are absolutely wreaking havoc on the markets. Developers literally didn't know about the closings until we all did, and then they had to make a hasty decision on whether to keep working on their game and sell it for a very limited time frame, or abandon it entirely. And now after hard decisions have been made, this happens.

For God's sake, Sony, get your shit together.

Make all the games I've bought digitally over the last 10 years playable on every system going forward (including every game I've gotten with PS+ and with the network outage giveaways)

It was a weird and confusing move, although you kinda expect them to close eventually because otherwise Sony would have to keep supporting firmware updates.

In a ideal world the current Sony console(PS5 right now) would be backwards compatible thus even if the stores for the old consoles did close than at least the games you own digitally and most physical can be played. Sony isn't interested in old games though.

I bought a Vita last year and some of the physical games werent too expensive, but since the PS store shut down announcement the games skyrocketed in price (even for the shit ones). So I was buying games digitally because fuck scalpers.

PSP games are not disappearing from the store. It's the CONSOLE ITSELF that is ceasing all shopping functions.

I think you will still be able to do some of those things actually. Via the email I got from Playstation:

"While the PSP storefront was previously closed in 2016, the remaining PSP purchase functionality (e.g. in-game purchases) will now be fully retired.

You will still be able to download your owned PS3, PS Vita, and PSP content, including games and video content.
You can download your owned content onto your PS3, PS Vita, or PSP by accessing the Download List on the respective device. "

If I had ever hope to play Suikoden III, IV, and V without finding a physical copy. Did my chance passed or these are still available on one of the PS digital stores? I am not familiar with PSN and if it is related to PS3 and Vita storefronts.

PS3 can download 1 - 4, but Tactics and 5 are physical only, at least I don't see them on PSN. Lucky I still own those two. Gave away 2 years ago. :P
