North Korea and the U.S. can both be shitty. It's patriotic to call out the shitty things your country does and want it to do better. Rather than willfully closing all three of your eyes and ignoring the shit staining your own backyard.

I legitimately wonder Mead expects the US military to do about it. Pull another one of our military coups where we're stuck in the country as part of an ongoing commitment for the next hundred years? Because that hasn't worked out so well the last few times we tried it.

So long as a 3rd world country has lower wages than us, I guess we shouldn't complain about how wages have stagnated over the last 50 years and the cost of living is unsustainable, too.

The US prison population is so large that if all the prisons were combined into a mega-prison (for reasons) they'd have a large enough population to secede and form their own country

No, not every problem. But when millions of people are basically held prisoner in inhumane conditions and are routinely killed through starvation and torture or executed just for trying to leave, that is exactly the kind of thing that we should rally our allies and do something about.

Our constitution states quite clearly that all people are created equal with inalienable rights. Its my favorite thing about the US because it recognizes that every human being is born with inherent value simply by being a person and they should be treated with a basic level of decency and be as free as possible. It does not discriminate against people born outside of our nation.

So in cases of extreme mistreatment and harm against millions, I hold the opinion that governments of the free world have the responsibility to work together and help those people achieve the basic rights and freedom that all people should have in life.

There is no bright side. You are a glorified slave working for that fat oppressive asshole for the rest of your life. I just feel it is nobel that they found the courage to walk away from the situation even if they failed. It takes a lot of courage to do that.
