"The premise of the game was the subject of controversy in 2009, with questions raised as to its appropriateness, especially given the fact that the true events the game is based upon were recent at the time. It was originally to be published by Konami, however, in April 2009, a spokesman informed the Associated Press that Konami was no longer publishing the game due to the controversy surrounding it. The game was originally slated for a 2010 release, but it was cancelled due to controversy; the game was put on hold until 2016 after its original studio, Atomic Games, went bankrupt in 2011.
In February 2021, the game was announced to be back in development at Highwire Games, consisting of former Halo and Destiny game developers. Published by Victura, Six Days in Fallujah is expected to be released on PC and consoles in late 2021."

check this shit out

For us as a team, it is really about helping players understand the complexity of urban combat. Its about the experiences of that individual that is now there because of political decisions. And we do want to show how choices that are made by policymakers affect the choices that [a Marine] needs to make on the battlefield. Just as that [Marine] cannot second-guess the choices by the policymakers, were not trying to make a political commentary about whether or not the war itself was a good or a bad idea.

There are things that divide us, and including those really divisive things, I think, distracts people from the human stories that we can all identify with, Tamte said. I have two concerns with including phosphorus as a weapon. Number one is that its not a part of the stories that these guys told us, so I dont have an authentic, factual basis on which to tell that. Thats most important. Number two is, I dont want sensational types of things to distract from the parts of that experience.

Spec Ops: The Line put players into a fictional scenario that confronted the very real, human consequences of the atrocities committed in wars like that in Iraq (including personally bombing an area with white phosphorous and then walking through the aftermath, which is one of the most memorable scenes I've ever experienced in a game). This one is putting players into a historic scenario, but steering clear of confronting players with any of the consequences of what actually happened. Don't want to get too political, after all, because there's nothing political about the War in Iraq.

I will say that it is possible for a game to tackle difficult political subjects without explicitly stating a political opinion, and instead just presenting events and their consequences and letting people form their own thoughts and feelings on the matter. The aforementioned Spec Ops generally didn't tell the player to feel bad about what they were doing. It just lead them to do it, then gave them a chance to think about it. But there's a world of difference between "we're not going to state an opinion because the impact will be greater if the player figures it out for themselves" and "we're not going to try to inform players about the reality of the situations they're playing in because we might offend somebody and make less money." By the sounds of things, this game is just being spineless, though there's a part of me that hopes I'm wrong and they're actually just trying to avoid spoiling all the war crimes to make them more impactful.

This. Its basically a orgasm simulator for the arm chair warriors who were to chicken shit to go into the army or for people that want to shoot brown people for fun.
