Does this bother you?

Another Disney Classic Original Movie is getting a remake for Disney+..this time it's Halloween movie UNDER WRAPS and it will star an all MINORITY cast this time!!

It will star Christian J. Simon, Malachi Barton, Sophia Hammons who will revive and release a mummy leading up to Halloween. The Mummy will be played by Phil Wright who they named "Harold" and is actually a sweet mummy who needs help but while trying to rush him back to his resting place, the kids are chased by a group of criminals intent on selling the mummy to the highest bidder.

The original 1997 cast was played by Adam Wylie, Mario Yedidia and Clara Bryant who also played the same name of the characters in the remake..

Filming will begin next week in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Does it bother you that they are remaking it with a minority cast?

No, I don't see why this would bother anyone unless they're racist. I doubt this movie has rabid fans obsessed with fidelity to the original characters' races. Haven't seen the original and doubt I'll see the remake.

I'm guessing we'll see 2-3 instances of people bringing this up to rage at the SJW bogeyman between now and about a month after its release, all of which will be largely ignored. That'll be about the extent of discussion around it, because nobody cares about this movie in any capacity.

Deliberately recasting an all-white cast with an all-minority cast is a pretty racist move, tbh. It's very conspicuous.

Which is one reason why the move won't engender much controversy. The other bigger part being that it's going this way instead of the other way. No matter how small or insignificant the original might have been, the internet would have exploded if an all-minority cast was replaced with an all-white cast.

It really wasn't. It was lousy from what I remember, but GPK was just straight-up terrible. The NC review actually makes GPK look better than it was.

Also duckbear intentionally frames his topics to be as antagonizing as possible and it's completely useless. It's a movie about 4 black kids. He's actually trying to make Conservatives more Conservative.

The only thing that bothers me is that kids today don't get as much original content as kids used to.

Imagine being a kid now, and then growing up to be like "oh man, the Lion King Remake, Aladdin Remake, and Mulan Remake. That was my childhood!"

Such as? I can remember them bringing back old cartoon TV series as a modern movie in the 90s, but that's not the same as fully remaking a previous one-off movie.

I don't mind a diverse cast or a single race cast. Well as long as its believabe.

Like in assassin's creed valhalla I would only expect to see the demographic for that region for that time period. Heck technically they can shoe horn an american native in as vikings were the first european visitors to the new world.

If they ever made an "dream time" movie about aborigines a white person should be nowhere near the cast even as a narrator,

See, that makes too much sense for the crazies, the only thing that matter is muh diversity.

Also, quick rule for people with too much common sense:

It's cultural appropriation when a Caucasian does something that is apparently not Caucasian-ish (according to the actual racist idiots). But when another race does something attributed to Caucasians, it's called diversity and is now totally acceptable.

No, it's not racist. I haven't seen the movie, but a read through of the plot and synopsis tell me that their racial identity of white isn't important to the movie in the slightest, nor addressed. No one has placed importance on their white identity.

The reason why it's often racist to recast in the reverse direction (whitewashing), is because people often *do* place importance on the racial identity of the character, particularly those from the same or similar racial background as the character. And it's partly and precisely because they feel they have been under represented. So to destroy the cultural connection between the character and those who identify with said character is racist.

I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised the guy defending rallies with Nazi flags and signs calling for ethnic cleansing is being purposely disingenuous about racism.
