Oh and my only complaint with First Blood is: when the troopers shot him from higher ground and Rambo didn't die. My first thought was that the guns they were using weren't meant to fire at those distances. But I don't know anything about guns. Edit: And I imagine they'd still do some serious damage from that distance.

I clicked all excited thinking it was going to be a Metal rendition of the First Blood theme and end up disappointed it wasn't. It was just some screamo metal band named First Blood. :(

As dumb as a lot of 80's action movies are, First Blood has one of the smartest bits of dialog I've ever seen in one. I can't find a proper clip of the relevant scene, but there's a part where Dennehy's Sheriff is asking the local good ol' boys to round up a pack of hunting dogs to track Rambo.

The basic gist of the scene goes something like this:

Someone suggests a guy who has a pack of Bloodhounds and Dennehy immediately shoots that Idea down in favor of another guy's pack of Dobermans because in that terrain, a Bloodhound with its floppy ears will walk right off a cliff into a ravine following Rambo's scent whereas the Dobermans with their short forward facing ears will notice the change in pitch at the edge of a steep drop and would be a far better choice because they'll adapt to the terrain while on the hunt. Whoever wrote that scene really knew their shit when it came to hunting with dogs, and tracking a fugitive.

Yeah I never noticed that detail until I watched a review.

Important little details like that really enhance a story and characters.
