Hey guys. I'm feeling the stay-at-home blues so I want to go back to getting into a hobby of mine: comic books. So I decided why not read some that people recommend and then I'll give my thoughts on them. Seems like a harmless idea. I'll read masterpieces, fun books, so-so books, and even some bad ones. Whatever people recommend. I haven't actually really read books in over 3 years now? So I've missed some stuff. Here's some rules.

  1. Marvel or DC only. I love the big two. What can I say?
  2. If you want me to read a certain comic run, I'll probably just start at the beginning and read a volume. Or if there's a specific volume or story I ought to check out, you can recommend that too. (Ex: Dan Slott Spider-Man Big Time; or Ms. Marvel Volume 3)
  3. I'd prefer no spoilers until I've read stuff unless I've already read it. Happy to discuss any and all things though!
  4. You can recommend any varying level of quality. I don't really care. I actually don't mind reading bad books unless they are BORING.
  5. Choose only 3 books. If I read yours, you can recommend another one.
  6. I'll choose simply by whatever the hell I feel like reading, but you can have your book chosen by a little game I'll play below!
If you want your book prioritized, you can guess some of my favorite or least favorite comic book things! One guess per 24 hours, and I'll let you guys know after that 24 hours if you guessed right. Feel free to guess again after I say nobody has gotten it. I'll just straight up ask what you want me to read if you guess right. So my first bit of trivia will be as follows:

Who is my favorite Marvel villain?

Guess and recommend away!

Feel like throwing out some personal nostalgic favorites just to see how someone else likes them.

Alpha Flight #75 (1989)
Justice League of America, "Divided We Fall" #50-#54 (2001)

...and I'm struggling to come up with a single issue or storyline I want to recommend outside general runs like Flash, Thunderbolts, Justice League International, all of 52...

Favorite Villain.... Sinestro?

Marvel villain!

I never read all of 52 actually. I think I only ever got through half of it!

I've only heard of Donnie Cates. I actually aaaalmost started reading Baby Teeth but didn't. I understand he's really good. And I'm pretty interested in seeing what Jonathan Hickman has been doing with the X-Men.

I love Jason Aaron's Thor and I've heard good things about Immortal Hulk.

I've literally never even read an issue of any Alpha Flight comic. And somehow I've never even read the legendary JLA Divided We Fall story either!

Greg Rucka's Punisher (Punisher Vol. 9) (& optional but recommended sequel to cap off the story: Punisher: War Zone vol. 3)

Daphne Byrne (great ongoing slow burn horror comic miniseries set in late 19th century New York, currently on issue 3 of 6. Fantastic artwork by Kelley Jones in particular)

Dark Nights: Metal (one of my favorite comic events in recent memory. Great mix of what-if scenarios, superhero insanity, crazy fan service, some genuine horror moments, and new characters you actually want to see stick around for more! There's a lot of tie-ins and stuff so I'm not really sure how you want to approach it, but if anything I recommend checking out The Batman Who Laughs to start with)

I have not read Hitman and know nothing about it.

I have read Superior Spider-Man and Superior Foes of Spider-Man and I love both thoroughly! Superior Foes especially. One of my favorite books! I have actually barely read any Runaways.

I've read a little bit of Greg Rucka's Punisher and hear it's good. Never heard of Daphne Byrne. But I've heard Dark Nights: Metal is actually good which honestly surprises me because everything about it looked like it was trying too hard. Glad to hear another positive opinion about it though!

Never heard of Daphne Byrne.

It's part of a new label by DC called Hill House comics, curated by Joe Hill (Locke & Key fame). It was supposed to be part of Vertigo but since that got shuttered Hill House was made instead. Lots of other great horror titles under the label too but Daphne Byrne is my favorite.

Anything I've seen about Gwenpool seems to range from legitimately funny to the worst cringe ever so I'd be interested in seeing if I actually like it.

I stopped reading comics entirely in the middle of War of Jokes and Riddles so I want to see how that ends!

Blackest Night actually holds a huge part in my heart for personal reasons and it's an awesome story.

Never read Gotham Central, I liked what I read of Ultimate Spider-Man, and I have never read Exiles but heard good things.

Planet Hulk is fun stuff and I've always been meaning to read Immortal Iron Fist.

And I've heard Mister Miracle is an incredible book!

52 Issue 1

I totally forgot Wonder Woman snapped Maxwell Lord's neck before this. And oh god Superboy Prime. The prelude alone is bringing back loads of memories.

I remember Renee Montoya plays a big part, and I've always enjoyed her. And fucking Booster Gold. I love this character. He's the best. I hope he's a huge part of this book. Ralph Dibny is making this book DARK though. I forgot Sue died around here.

Steel being a hardass to his niece I absolutely don't remember. And I will absolutely take Black Adam being a fucking baller at all times. Booster losing his shit because the heroes aren't coming except that intrepid reporter Clark Kent is there???

And we end with Question blasting Renee Montoya with his big dumb question mark spotlight. Love it. If I remember right, she actually becomes Question in this series.

52 Issue 2

These are hard for this type of series I think since there are so many stories moving along, so I'll probably just give my comments on major things I like or appreciate and give my overall thoughts on people's stories as something notable happens in them.

I'm actually very interested in the rounding up mad scientists plot and want to know where it goes. Question stop being a creep tho (I know you can't it's okay though). Vic Sage is awesome. Skeets got to get it together though man.

Oh hey, Ralph's mystery gravestone message was not what I was expecting! Damn, Wonder Girl. Been ages since I saw anything about her. Good issue.

52 Issue 3

Okay, I just need to say it. Power Girl's outfit is fucking ridiculous and the cleavage window is dumb. I remember they eventually did something with that, but man it's such a bad look. I just laughed when I saw her first appearance in the book and it's just CLEAVAGE right in front of you. I actually really like Power Girl, but her outfit is bad.

That said, I loved the exchange between her and Black Adam. Black Adam is legitimately one of my favorite characters and he's just such a delight to read dialogue from. And OH MY LORD he crushed a man's head with one hand. I want 52 issues of Black Adam being Black Adam. AND HOLY SHIT THAT ENDING BLACK ADAM IS THE BEST. Just ripping dudes apart and telling people to bring all the villains to him holy shit. Best man.

I forgot Lex Luthor was president before this. I thought that was after. But ahahaha what a wonderful dick. Lex is the best.

52 Issue 4

Loving Booster Gold throughout this story and I love what they're doing with him in this arc. Fire is not as big of a fan though.

Uh, so Steel is seeing things and accidentally turned himself into steel it looks like? Whoops.

I recognize some heroes at the end though like Alan Scott Green Lantern. Not sure who the others are though. Good issue and I liked the Renee and Question stuff.

52 Issue 5

Lex pls stop with the Superman trashing and telling people we don't need him. Get it together bud. I like the story they're telling with Steel being the replacement Superman again despite having not wanting to be it. And oh. Firestorm and Cyborg are in some shit. Oh man, a lot of shit happened, apparently. The Titans and Justice Society (I think?) had a bad time saving the world on their end apparently.

Animal Man, why are you just casually looking at the sexed up alien Starfire bathe herself while you talk about your family? And Adam Strange sorry about your eyes bro.

52 Issue 6

LMAO God damnit Booster why are you paying people now to be villainous too!? And oh damnit Rip Hunter says Booster broke time. That's no good.

But hey! Green Lanterns are here and having a rough time! It gets rougher with Black Adam making a coalition with a bunch of countries. Oh no.

52 Issue 7

Ralph went in on Booster Gold. Kinda deserves it tbh. Omg it gets worse when the actor exposes Booster. "Ralph Dibny, Human Race." Haaaah. Ralph just demolished Booster.

Hold up, Kate Kane is here aka Batwoman, right? Sort of surprised to see her as a socialite snob in this.

52 Issue 8

This is legitimately the first story I've ever been interested in Steel. lol Lex is playing games with the dude. And oh lord he's playing games using Natasha. I hate how Lex can get me from "Haha what a troll dickbag" to "Oh fuck this guy" in a matter of pages.

But I want to say Captain Universe(?) is saving people as some kind of ghost? And Booster isn't happy about it and Clark Kent is going to find out. Hah.

52 Issue 9

Oh, Lex's dickery continues. And Natasha is fighting Steel now. :( Is Lex's goal to just screw with Steel for some reason? What's his goal here?

This Devilance dude looks doofy as hell. I can't tell if he's a joke character or not. lol

Oh, hey. It's Batwoman. Is this supposed to be here first appearance? I feel like she is a recent enough of a character that it actually might be.

-----

Anyway, I'm done for the night. Read way more than I meant to. I'm enjoying it a lot though! What I'll probably do is one volume then switch to something else, then do another volume of it. Just to spice up my reading.

Booster is indeed one of the main characters! He's probably my favorite DC character and is one of the big reasons I love 52. More generally it's really cool to have a story that focuses on all of these normally C list characters that get to shine due to the void left by the Trinity going inactive.

52 Issue 10

Okay, I love that Clark Kent was only a good reporter because he was fucking Superman. That's pretty great. Also a super interesting scene with Clark jumping out the window to get the interview when he's fired. That's top notch Clark Kent stuff. Also lol at Clark calling out Lois for scolding him by jumping out a window to get someone's attention. I thought Supernova was another hero. But I kind of feel like he is a hero we know just with a different costume? Maybe?

Hey, it's Isis. I didn't realize that was her from earlier with the head squish guy. I'm feeling like she's going to show Black Adam humanity and I'm about it so long as he keeps being Black Adam. "I'm sorry for denying you revenge" though is so Black Adam.

Oh shit do we have MISTER MIND!?

52 Issue 11

Oh, so we got the Question/Montoya special issue here! Seriously, The Question is amazing and I love this character. Just a snarky douche at all times. And hey, we get Batwoman in action! I'm thinking this actually is her debut then?

AND OH SHIT THEY'RE TRYING TO RESURRECT SUE DIBNY THAT'S ACTUALLY CREEPY THE WAY THEY'RE DOING IT KUDOS ON THAT ENDING.

52 Issue 12

Yo. Shazam is messed up right now. No idea what this is all about. But I'm loving the Black Adam and Isis interactions. But at least she's Isis now... but I'm a bit worried about where this leads for her. It feels like she'll get corrupted.

Oh no Ralph please don't work with the creepy resurrection cult.

52 Issue 13

Psych Ralph got me. He's working with the JLA to take down the creepy fucking cult. Good job Ralph. OH COME ON DON'T PUT SUE'S FACE ON THE CREEPY MANNEQUIN TOO! Oh. Wait. Ralph doesn't want to take them down. He just called the JLA to tell him if it's bullshit or not. Wtf. Damnit Ralph. Heroes being frank talking to other heroes are part of my favorite things about super hero comics, honestly. The JLA members talking with Ralph about bringing back his dead wife was great. And he decides to listen to reason! ...But then he hears mannequin Sue talk to him? And now he's gone fucking crazy. Noooooo.

Black Adam and Isis are great together and I love their story.

52 Volume 1 Thoughts

So I'm loving this series. It's pretty outstanding. I just like all the moving parts and people involved and it never feels messy. I'll just give a quick rundown on my thoughts on various storylines.

  • Ralph and his dead wife is really compelling. I have no idea where it's ever going at any point and think it's been done very well.
  • Steel and Lex having their beef with Steel's niece caught in the middle is really interesting and I'm trying to figure out where Lex is going with it.
  • The Question and Renee Montoya with Batwoman fun times is good stuff too. I could read Question and Montoya go back and forth forever. Sounds like they'll be saying what's up to Black Adam soon though which is........ so weird to me and I can't wait.
  • Black Adam is by far the best part of the books to me because, well, fucking Black Adam is a boss and I've always loved the character. I feel like things will fall apart when Black Adam goes "Hey y'all I got a heart now. Coalition over."
  • Supernova story with Booster and Clark is interesting as well. Clark being peppered into this without powers is a good time. I always like reading Superman stories about him just being human. And Booster Gold's entire story has been really interesting so far because he's a quality douche.
  • Adam Strange, Starfire, and Animal Man is such a weird combination for being stranded and I like it except Devilance seems really fucking stupid and his design reminds me of a low-rent Galactus.
  • And although it's been pretty low-key, the kidnapped Mad Scientists are really interesting. Morrow thinking he's next is worrisome. I really, really want to know what happens there but it's taken a hardcore backseat.
I think I got all of the moving parts in this volume though. I really enjoy it! I can't wait to read more!

So I was going to read House of X/Powers of X, but it's a bit pricey. But I'll buy it if anyone else wants to vouch for it's quality. So instead I think I'll read Volume 1 of Immortal Hulk. I'm not totally in love with The Hulk, but I heard this is a really good series, and I've actually really enjoyed any quality Hulk stories.

Feel free to keep guessing my favorite Marvel villain though! It's still not been mentioned yet!

Immortal Hulk #1

So I love the way that they frame this story first of all. They get a little abstract with the placement, go a little unique with the brief narrating text that is supposed to tell you what this story is all about. Some random kid kills a little girl and a gas station attendant and... Bruce Banner, who I understand died but is now back? Do I need to know how he came back or is it explained in this? Anyway, Bruce dies but he comes back. Apparently the kid made bad decisions with bad people and went too far.

So Hulk kills everyone and the kid begs for his life and I actually really, really like this scene where he is begging for his life and asks Hulk if he's ever made a mistake. And Hulk seems to actually understand for just a minute, because he totally has. But then he claims he's not a bad guy, and Hulk is having not even a fucking second of that. He is pretty much ruined for life in a coma and later Bruce is asking Hulk in the mirror if he's a bad guy.

Honestly, amazing issue. Really impressed with what they did here and how they managed to reflect back to Bruce and Hulk. This is the kind of stuff I love to see in Hulk comics.

Immortal Hulk #2

Love the opening with Bruce thinking about the Geiger counter haunting him. And I love the art here and the creativity they use in showing reflections of the Hulk.

This story explores how Hulk can't die and a doctor who tries to heal his son dying of cancer with Banner's radiation research. He took the serum and ended up being a ghost skeleton while his son died super hard. They both can't die though, but Hulk says he put his son in a grave, so now Hulk is putting him in one too. He buries him deep in the earth while they dig out his son from the grave to make sure people don't get radiation poisoning from his gravesite.

Great story!

Immortal Hulk #3

So this is a fun little story (well as fun as this book gets) where Hulk stops some kid who had gamma blasts coming from his hands who had killed his girlfriend apparently. Loved that one of the guys was a cop who just thinks Hulk is great because he's an Avenger.

Anyway, it's just a fun little story that was an enjoyable read, but the more interesting part was that Sasquatch of Alpha Flight seems like he wants Banner to help him, likely about removing Sasquatch's abilities from him.

Immortal Hulk #4

So this ends up focusing more on Sasquatch. I feel like his story is a little bit of embellishment on how his friendship with Banner was in college though. Still, it was nice to get a primer on Sasquatch since I know very little about him. Really interesting to see Hulk has ruined McGee's life before though when she was a little girl! Should be interesting.

Anyway, Sasquatch gets stabbed in a bar fight and then transforms only at night when he's being operated on and he doesn't seem friendly right now. But Banner seems like he wants to see him, so let's see what that's about!

Immortal Hulk #5

Hulk fight!

So something is possessing Gamma people. Good thing Hulk rid the world of a lot of them before. Sasquatch murders people because he's possessed and the possessing thing looks like Bruce's abusive father. This is kinda trippy and absolutely not what I expected from my Hulk book, but I like it. At the end is seems like he possesses Hulk though which is concerning.

I really like where the McGee story went and how she wants to be like Hulk and Hulk just blows her off like she asked a stupid question. lol Anyway, I really like this and am interested where it goes!

Will read more later tonight potentially.

I totally forgot Wonder Woman snapped Maxwell Lord's neck before this.

I forget what actually is canon these days, but I still like to joke that it's just a picture of a sword since everyone forgot both Maxwell Lord and later Wonder Woman.

Ralph Dibny is making this book DARK though. I forgot Sue died around here.

Yeah, post-Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis are some rough, dark times.

I think this is legit the only underwhelming storyline in 52, and it might just be because the rest of it is some of the best stuff DC has ever done

Agreed. While I sadly forget about how ****ing amazing the Black Adam stuff is when I reflect on 52 (I almost always zero in on Ralph/Booster/Renee first, with Black Adam/Lex second... which Black Adam should really be right after Booster), I definitely don't forget about how much I don't like the Strange space adventures. It's partially due to that they are so far-flung from the rest of the heroes that they don't have those intersections with the rest of the storylines like you've already seen with Booster/Dibny and you'll see soon with Question/Black Adam.

Immortal Hulk #6

Alright, so people are creeping on everyone in Hulk's life to find him. That's creepy. And the group in charge of getting Hulk are a bunch of assholes who took that kid from issue 2. No good!

But Captain Marvel, who is in charge of Alpha Flight, has made a deal with the government to not make Sasquatch go to jail for what he did by, and she ends up gathering the Avengers to take him in. She-Hulk, in particular, seems to be most angry about the whole thing which makes sense. Why is she in a hoodie though? Interested in the next issue, but I need to rant about something.

Why the fuck are they incapable of making Captain Marvel fun? She can be a fun character! She can be interesting! She just has the most blank expression on her face in every panel and her dialogue is just such a lame hardass tone. She can be fun! Let her be fun! Carol Danvers as the joyless hardass is what has made this character get such a horrible rep. I have no idea why everyone writes her like this now.

Rant over.

Immortal Hulk #7

Initial thought: They put the car Ghost Rider in the Avengers? That seems so out of place. lol

Hulk shit talking is pretty awesome though, not gonna lie. I'm loving the idea of Hulk being so advanced in science he's close to a god. Big ups Thor.

But I guess I ought to bring up something else that bugs me. She-Hulk looks ugly now and I kinda hate that. Not because "Oh, why does she have to be attractive?" but more than being attractive is her damn draw. Now she's just another Hulk. Who cares. Why diminish her in this way to just be the other Hulk now? She was perfectly fine as a character before this. She even talks like the Hulk too. What the hell? I just don't understand the point here. Does anyone actually like this change?

Anyway, Tony nukes the area to kill Hulk. Whoops. And they actually have Captain Marvel show emotion and humanity with that kid. THANK YOU.

OH NO HULK IS IN PIECES IN JARS WHAT THE HELL. So weird but so good.

Immortal Hulk #8

lol Hulk in a jar flipping asshole scientist the bird. Love it. Dr. Clive is a good villain. Fully expecting him to eat it hard at the end of this story. Captain Marvel is trying to expose this underground government group that has Hulk. And.... Hulk snaps his fingers and fucking RIP Dr. Clive dies way faster than I expected in a totally gruesome way. Duuuuuude. Clever way that Hulk reformed though. They really should have considered that could happen though.

Immortal Hulk #9

Hey, Absorbing Man! I really like this guy and enjoy seeing him in any stories! "You're one of Hulk's greatest enemies!" "Is that a joke? I've never won against the guy." Haaaah. They give Absorbing Man a gamma injection that's like Red Hulk's powers and he vaporize/absorbs a poor little gamma mouse. :( Meanwhile Hulk is losing it because he keeps seeing his father in reflections and wants him gone.

So Absorbing Man ends up brawling with Hulk and he and his ball and chain just straight up beats down Hulk and drains his gamma energy, making him look rather malformed. But when Hulk hits him, the demon thing ends up in Creel and......... well that's a fucking nightmare. Holy shit. What the hell.

Gotta stop for the night but god damn what.

Awwww yeah you're starting to see the body horror elements of Immortal Hulk.

It's so good.

Robbie Reyes has been on the Avengers for a while now, it's actually pretty great. I like Robbie a lot though so YMMV.

He did get to do this which was rad.

I'll probably read the rest of Hulk and maybe I'll get into Volume 2 of 52 tonight!

But nobody has guessed my favorite Marvel villain yet! So here's another hint to really narrow it down.

This character has never been adapted into an animated series before.

Immortal Hulk #10

So everything has gone to hell. Creel is in two pieces. His vertebrae and demon skull is thrown back at him. He's shambling off away while everyone is trying to take down Hulk, including Gamma Flight and the black op army group. Oh, and Absorbing Man is sorry.

So everything looks horrific and nightmarish until we finally get to that Green Door Hulk has been talking about. Aaaaand... everything is now a hellscape. That's really, really, really bad. Curious where it goes from here! But that's all that's in this volume except for...

Avengers #684

This is a recap issue for Hulk/Banner. So maybe I can figure out how he's alive and such.

And I learn a lot of LORE here. Banner wants Hawkeye to kill him for reasons that aren't clear, but maybe it's just because of The Hand having their demon magic in him? Someone please help me out here. lol Doctor Voodoo is here though! I like that guy.

Wait. Hold on. The Supreme Leader put something in a part of his brain and that's why he asked Hawkeye to shoot there? Oh, it looks like they put an image at the end of the volume though that tells you all the times Hulk has died. That's pretty cool! If there's interest, I can post it here.

Immortal Hulk Vol. 1 Thoughts

So this is probably the best Hulk book I've ever read. The issues where they just explore Hulk and Banner are easily the best and I love reading them. More of that, please. I like the visuals a lot too, with the horrific body morphing stuff with Hulk that you can tell Ewing just wants to really explore. It took me a while to remember what I read of Ewing that I liked, but it's his Loki series. I enjoyed that. He has a very interesting way of viewing characters that's honestly refreshing.

Concerning the actual plot, I'm liking how everything is kind of merging now. No clue where it goes from here but the ride there has been fun. This demon is an interesting take--something that science did awakened a dark unholy force is actually a more interesting take on things. And it's something I absolutely didn't expect from a Hulk book either. It's an interesting villain for the guy who otherwise has a hard time with compelling villains otherwise.

Overall, really outstanding book. Definitely the best Hulk I've ever read!

I'll pick up with 52 unless someone guesses my favorite Marvel villain before I get the chance! Scroll up to the post before this for another hint to really narrow down things!

I potentially spoiled myself on the Black Widow movie, but if those spoilers are real then I think I'll love it.

52 Issue 14

Alright, so we have three stories in this one, but this issue is mostly uneventful.

Khandaq adventures with Question and Montoya! They are fun. They look around Khandaq, and they find a building full of dead bodies. Oh, and they're being followed.

Steel is losing it over his niece being with Luthor. He made her the armor though. That's really, really sad.

And then we have Magnus where the government wants to give him money for his Metal Men and say he shouldn't give them personalities because they just want them as fighting machines. He disagrees and, worse yet, Morrow has disappeared from his cell. Not a good sign! But at the end the robot he's working on, Mercury, is alive and is extremely quirky, which Magnus seems thrilled about.

Slow issue. I anticipate the next will have more though!

52 Issue 15

"This is Metropolis! A City that Brainiac tries to shrink into bottle-size every Thursday!"

Hahaha nice Booster. He's in a hotel like a schlub trying to make a comeback. And... a giant sea creature pops up to ruin Metropolis and Booster is screwing everything up to the point that Clark Kent is trying to give him advise. And then people are just trashing on the dude hard until Supernova saves the day! And then Supernova just utterly destroys Booster.

"Don't listen to these people's insults Booster. You're not going to pay attention to them, are you? I mean, why start now?"

So Booster and Supernova fight until Skeets tells him that the sub is leaking radiation, to which Booster decides he'll save the day and begins to brag about it. ........And then explodes. ........And Booster is dead? What the fuck?

Oh and Question and Montoya escape Khandaq prison but who cares after that ending what the HELL!?

52 Issue 16

We start off with Black Adam proposing to Isis. Woah bro. You think you might be going a bit fast my dude? You only have all eternity with her. No need to rush. And the wedding is the same week!? Black Adam my dude when you want it you go all the way buddy. Surprisingly he wants the Marvel Family to be at the wedding too and for Captain Marvel (is it bad if it feels better to call him Shazam now?) to officiate.

Meanwhile, Question and Montoya figure out that there's going to be a suicide bomber. A little girl, to be precise. And Renee tries to stop her but Question tells her to shoot her. And... holy shit, Renee does. Didn't expect that. Uh, happy wedding but dead child? Good work Renee...?

Oh and the Animal Man, Starfire, and Adam Strange team are escaping the planet finally after like another 8 weeks it feels like.

That's all for tonight!

Not going to read too much tonight.

52 Issue 17

So alright, I love the way Lex is handling his super hero team like he's a manager, bantering with most of them. It goes back to the thing where I am loving Lex, but I know he'll be sure to remind me what a piece of trash he is. Love that character.

Meanwhile, Adam Strange, Animal Man, and Starfire are busy in space doing space stuff when Devilance comes back to murder them. But Lobo comes and murders him super quick. lmao Okay, so my stance on Lobo is that he's honestly not a tremendous character, and I don't feel like he can carry anything on his own, but I like him. He's like a guilty pleasure, if that makes any sense. And... I guess it's kind of funny he demands Starfire's top for information? But he's against violence despite murdering the living hell out of Devilance? Not really sure about this one.

Anyway, Red Tornado is also in Australia and he's jacked up. Hi Red Tornado!

52 Issue 18

Oh hey, we have Doctor Fate's helmet, Ralph, and the detective chimp friend I can't remember the name of. They're here again. Ralph is looking better since the last time we saw him cradling a burned creepy mannequin. Eventually they take Doctor Fate's helmet to find a new successor, and there's... Ragman, Nightmaster, Blue Devil, Nightshade, and Enchantress. What a crew. Anyway, the helmet talks to Ralph and tells him to go on a journey with him and... they seem to be confused as Ralph walks away because the helmet is apparently not actually talking to him. Oh my.

Renee Montoya isn't dealing with killing a kid very well and her and Black Adam have a good exchange. Black Adam has no fucking chill and I love it. Dude just breaks down a building to find a drunk Renee Montoya getting some. But the unlikeliest dream team of Black Adam, Isis, Montoya, and Question are going to hunt down Intergang.

Oh god Booster has the worst celebration ceremony. In Cincinnati of all places. Poor guy doesn't deserve that! But Skeets is interested in some chubby dude apparently.

But that's all I'm gonna read tonight!
