Also, there are two other matches that are being completely ignored. Not that they're terribly interesting (Auron was the favorite to win this division from the start and this only confirms it), but it's unfair to them to be so overshadowed.

I mean, given how well Scorpion fared against Pikachu (who, unlike Mewtwo, is not a FRAUD), Shulk getting 40% on Sub-Zero is pretty good, right?

But Persona is the #2 strength JRPG series on this site and the ONLY disadvantage Joker had going in was his name being wrong, but that was fixed pre-match! Hea also up against one of the worst pictures all contest.

Given his dominant series with millions of adoring fans, Joker should EASILY be winning this match!

Scorpion wasn't particularly amazing against Pikachu. I'd say this is a bad result for Shulk, especially since he's against a character with a pretty bad picture.

Every previous contest they've both been in had suggested that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are roughly equal in strength, and if anything, Subby's the stronger one.

I mean, I hated XBC, but that was mostly because of the control scheme so I can't say that I want Shulk to be weak.

Scorpion wasn't particularly amazing against Pikachu. I'd say this is a bad result for Shulk, especially since he's against a character with a pretty bad picture.

Fair, but this Shulk got smoked by Ratchet in 2013. I'd say going 40-60 with a midcard is pretty good result in comparison

Well @Lightning_Strikes was telling me otherwise in this topic. Did you know Persona is the CLEAR #2 or 3 RPG series and is very mainstream?

That actually almost sounds viable if you only go based on the NOW, since its acceptance in the U.S. is still on the rise whereas venerable franchises like Final Fantasy haven't been good for years.

But I'm pretty sure that SMT isn't even in the top 2 or 3 non-Squeenix RPG franchises. Remember, Pokmon is an RPG, and despite what today's least interesting match would suggest, Fire Emblem is also trending way up.

To be fair, the game Lucina appears in literally has an option called "Casual Mode".

This is a good Auron performance I think. Lucina is probably just pretty decent.

That's not a bad thing, more games should use difficulty levels. I don't like the designer deciding what is the ideal difficulty for me because they are often wrong.

Auron, a character designed to be the most generic stock badass they could think of because they realized the entire rest of the cast was just a bunch of losers.

That's about as casual as it gets.

I think he makes a pretty cool blend of the stoic badass but also the wise teacher. Despite being so badass he's also the guy that just admits he's tired before everyone else and wants to rest.

Okay, you got me there. FE really has dumbed itself down to try to appeal to the masses. And admittedly, I've become spoiled by said casual mode and have found myself legitimately challenged by going back to games that don't have it.

(I always use Classic Mode for my first playthrough but the "Waifu Era" makes it so much more time-consuming to grind out a 100% Support Log, which is something I was able to do in both Blazing Blade and Sacred Stones. I've always been on board with story being a primary consideration, and I've got a very long rant cued up for a guest spot on the Analysis Crew that relates to that subject! Although to be honest, the Avatar is really what makes Waifu Emblem so tedious; the children aspect was really good in FE4 and we need a remake/first international release of that game so bad.)

There may be more supports in modern Fire Emblem, but the method to get them is about 100x less of a pain than the GBAFE ones

Not really. The one in the GBA ones just involves pressing "End Turn" a bunch of times before finishing up the chapter. A bit time consuming, but nothing major.

Not to mention it was easier to grind out two A-levels in a single playthrough. Get both B-levels and have them ready to get an A-level, start chapter, get one, reset, get other.

Can't really get multiple S-levels in a playthrough because you've got to carry each one through so the non-fixed parent can get their parent/child A-rank!
