The idea to make a Supergirl movie just screams its working on TV, lets do that, without any understanding of why it is working when their movies arent. When your film division is copying your tv division out of sheer desperation you know youve hit the bottom of the barrel.

So they lost their Superman and Batman.

Quality franchise and use of it. I cannot believe how badly they have fucked this up. I don't think this universe is salvageable now. Unless they just Flashpoint everything away and start over. But then who gives a shit, because they've proven themselves incapable.

Shazam is under an entirely different group of producers.

And let's not forget Geoff Johns, a real comic writer, was the creative mind behind the last several DC movies.

He was extremely involved in BvS and Justice League. He worked on the script and was in the room.

I think you should hold less cynical detachment about this sort of thing and maybe just focus on the positives of the franchises and find the products from said franchises that appeal to you. I don't necessarily enjoy DC movies right now, but I can read plenty of comics that I enjoy.

But a book that takes maybe 1/12th the time to read compared to watching the movies is 1/3 the price of a movie ticket.

She's the main character of the CW show you were complaining about copying. That's why the show is called Black Canary - no wait, it's fucking Supergirl. Supergirl is a franchise for CW. Not Superman.

I feel like once GLC comes out we will be able to compare it directly to the GL movie and tell exactly how much input Johns had in his "creative officer" role versus being the head writer.

Sucks to hear about Cavill, I feel like he was doing a great job with what they gave him and would have been perfect with the right material.

sharing joy about the things you love IS fun, but being cynical/critical about things you don't love as much makes you appreciate the things you DO love even more. it makes life a far richer experience.

in the case of this subject, i appreciate the MCU that much more because i know how difficult it is to make a cinematic universe by looking at what a clusterfuck the DCEU is. hell, i even appreciate the DCEU to some extent. there's good stuff to be found in it, and at least it didn't crash and burn after one movie like the universal monsters cinematic universe.

if you're ONLY cynical and negative then yeah, something's wrong, but i wouldn't say that applies to anagram. i see him make topics about stuff he likes often enough.
